One of the best MMOS right now, so here is a complete edition that has latest shadowbringers already.

Best lot to get started with and is the cheapest I could find, RRP $60.
Update: Price increase from $36.99 to $38.99.

It does say a warning but ignore it as it will work fine! Warning: Final Fantasy XIV Online Complete Edition Inc. Shadowbringers PC (EU) cannot be activated in Australia. If you still want to purchase, click "Buy Now".

They are releasing Australia servers in a couple months too, right now you have to play on high ping

    • +1

yep or JP servers which are good. good to start now before new exp comes out

    • +2

I enjoyed playing on the JP server. I was seen as an exotic being for speaking English and they all loved me.

      • +3

Been playing and raiding on JP server for a year. Never had problems.

    • +1

Do you have to remake if you want to play on Australian server?

      • +4

no you can transfer for free when the servers come out.

  • Does this include the 'free trial' up to level 60?

    • You can create an account and play the trial to your heart's content and then redeem the code later when you want to start on the next expansion

    • +3

Once you have a paid product on the account (be it game time or an expansion) your free trial ends so best to wait til you're at the end of Heavensward to activate it, I believe.

  • Can this be used on a current free trial account with a character in an eu server?

    • Yes

    • If you use it on the free trial account you start the free 1 month automatically.

Better to save and use once you hit 60/finish HW.

I’ve been playing the free trial for a few weeks casually (I think I’m level 30ish) and it’s been fun but damn the website, online store, launcher, everything about how and what to do to give them money is truely heinous. Its hard to buy anything cos I can’t even figure out what I’m supposed to buy.

The fact the game seems to be doing well in spite of this pretty amazing.

  • Can someone explain why out of nowhere this game is super popular and everyone is switching to it from WOW?

    • It's just better overall and they listen to players. Unlike wow. Aka also moving from wow

      • I dunno if I'd say it's better. I'd say it's different but also very similar.

Nothing wrong with playing more than one mmo either. I switch between all of them frequently.

Blizz def needs to be taught a lesson that they can't give us so little content for so long though

I played WoW for 16 years. I switched because WoW just doesn't appeal to me anymore. There used to be a good social and casual nature about WoW, but Blizzard have ultimately dumped that for the hardcore scene. Also Shadowlands isn't the redemption from BfA that everyone was hoping for.

Also "I will not serve!" says character that's served for 10+ years.

      • WoW lost me years ago, when they stopped caring about bots. I used to be able to report people in pvp games or farming and get a GM to chat live and take them out of the game basically in front of your eyes. Then they switched to this flag people afk/cheat/botting, no more GMs, and you'd see the same bot for a week or more.

LFR and cross server LFG also didn't help the quality of the community, sure it made dungeons and raids easier to get into, but people would literally just troll and wipe you etc and there was no consequence. At least at a server level you could blackball them.

It's not out of nowhere. It had average start but has been going strong and has consistently been among the most popular and highest rated MMOs in the world for the past decade.

Nothing has changed, it's only that more recently that there has been yet another influx of ex WoW players which is more to do with what Blizzard does than anything new with FFXIV. It's a very good game with a large player base and Square Enix have always done right by the players, not to mention the generous free trial to Level 60 goes a long way to give new players a taste.

A few very influential WOW streamers swapped to FF in the last few weeks, seemingly out of nowhere.

    • Wow 9.1 expansion was terrible so people looked elsewhere. Once people got passed the "just a weeb game" falsehood they realised it's a much better game and now everyone is a catgirl.

      • I was surprised tbh. Now im not an anime connoisseur by any means, never watch the stuff but i get the jist of it. I feel like FF14 does not have much if any of the weeb stuff at all.

    • Streamers started switching.

    • The game itself rates highly on mmorpg list whenever anyone has made one in the last couple of years, so game wise seems to be almost a hidden gem or people just didn't want to try it for whatever reason. But yes, asmongold giving it a go recently has helped boost it's profile to players who haven't tried it.

I myself played WoW since beta, but after WOTLK I got sick of the rep grinds and the patches every 3 months or so that made most of your gear useless. Also daily quests on multiple characters to unlock stuff it's just a money sink to keep people playing. FFXIV allows people to play 1 character and level different jobs, dropping out large farming components, also far better if you want to move off the server, as you don't need to transfer as many characters. I swear I spent more money transferring servers and factions in WoW then I ever spent on Collector's editions and subscriptions.

  • I bought the game recently and I must say their account creation service is atrocious. I've been locked out of my EU account and after 3 days I'm still waiting for a response from Square Enix. I created a new account with a new email address etc on NA and I had problems receiving the confirmation email. When it finally came through after like 3 hours I entered it only to get a "site is down for maintenance" message. I give up.

  • I recently grabbed the FINAL FANTASY® XIV Online Complete Collector's Edition for $47.74 AUD on greenmangaming.com. I should of posted a link. Unfortunately I believe the sale recently ended. If you're wanting to get into it and prefer collectors editions for bonus mounts, items etc, then they do have it on the same site https://www.cdkeys.com/pc/final-fantasy-xiv-online-complete-… AU$60.39 (might be cheaper elsewhere)
    Includes;
In-game items from the Shadowbringers Collector's Edition: Grani Mount, Wind-up Fran Minion, Revolver Gunbreaker Weapon
In-game items from the Stormblood Collector's Edition: Syldra Mount, Wind-up Bartz Minion, Chicken Knife Red Mage Weapon
In-game items from the Heavensward Collector's Edition: Flying Griffin Mount, Dark Knight Cecil-themed Baron Helm, Wind-up Kain, Fantasia, an item that grants you a single opportunity to edit your character's appearance.

I've just started up on Hyperion (NA server) which has 100% bonus xp (Preferred Server Bonus) to 70, noted by a gold star next to server name..

I believe there is also a 14 days bonus game time event going. My account was credited it recently.

I only just started playing and leveled passed this before I found out and went back, but you can have Chocobo fight for you, but you aren't really told how to get it. So here's a guide.

  • How much is the monthly subscription fee?

    • +1

      $15

    • You can use their free trial up to 60, and seeing the expansion is a few months away, you could reasonably level up a few jobs and get a good look at the game before committing to a purchase. It's one of the things FFXIV has done well. That's a large section of content free.

  • Hi have the Steam version of ARR, will this still work?

    • you need to buy off steam from what i heard.

    • Yeah pretty sure of you bought and played on Steam originally you need to buy expansions on Steam. If you buy off website/hardcopy/non steam keys you continue to do the same

  • ill give it a go cheers

  • How much does it cost to upgrade from Complete to complete collectors on mogstation?

    • +1

I think it's like 19.99 USD per expansion. Probably cheaper to buy the complete collector's I posted above.

      • ty and yeah, I guess it is. 20 usd per one is craze for upgrade .

        • If you're going to transfer to Australian server later, I'd probably go on one of the the preferred servers marked with gold star for the 100% bonus xp. Personally I went Hyperion, which seems to have a large community (locked for creation some times of the day). If you have a preferred servers, try at different times if you can't make a character, as they unlock now and then, I guess it depends on in game population.

I think this link tells you if they are currently locked and refreshes regularly

Can someone confirm this still works?

So is there any particular instruction I need to do to apply it to my current free trial account?

    Thanks.

    • You just add to account, make sure your already level 60 or you'll waste your 30 days.
