The margins on these roasted beens from these trendy roasters must be amazing. I just can't do it, I know the price of green beans- and particularly when you slap a fancy name on it and don't even say what beans are in there I'm presuimg it's a bottom shelf blend. I'm not saying you can't make it taste nice but it shouldn't be $40-$80kg, tell em he's dreaming, looking at you directcoffee roasters.

    • I've had thier Vivace. It's pretty good. $30 per kg is a good deal. For my view on their before discount price joke, see my comment below.

100% dreaming! even after 40% still above my price range!! at least the delivery should be free too. :)

  • Gabriel is a good roaster but $68 before discount for 1kg? heh. You be the judge. I happen to be ordering beans from The Little Marionette today, $44 per kg. No hocus pocus.

Totally. $68 for a kg is a complete rip off. Little Marionette are an awesome roaster (their roasting warehouse is also really cool) and supply a load of cafes around Sydney so what would make this worth more than 50% per kg?

I've personally started using Direct Coffee because getting four individual 250g bags really helps with freshness and allows you to try lots of different coffee. Plus a kg of 4 bags works out as the same price as this delivered.

    • Try Marcel's coffee bean, cheaper and good

  • Holy retail batman

Better be throwing in an aeropress discount for those prices

  • Tried before, but around this time last year prices were $50/kg rrp, quite a steep increase.

  • why i found the shipping cost $9.9?!

Not sure why everyone is having a cow at the rrp's on this place? Lots of other places post here with 40-50% off deals that end up about $60 posted for 2kg and people kiss their ass and call it icecream.

  • Premium coffee is premium prices… I don't think their blends are all that wow, but their singles look good. But 250g bags only for singles? Now I'm disappointed. Does the discount apply for 4x250g?

    • I'll ballpark it, let's say someone is buying beans at $6-$11kg green (roasted yield is obviously less) they're probably buying a few different ones at $11-$16kg as their premium ones. Seeing as there's a $8 difference in this listings RRP for premium vs standard, that's about right relative to each other, but their blend is $60kg! So as a starting point it's a huge margin not 'premium coffee is premium prices'.

There's so much branding going on- look at all the companies pumping out blends, building a stylised web page, having some fancy packaging, giving it a trendy name like Hipsters Beard which is a coffee bristling with chocolatey notes and then whacking a $70kg price tag on it. You know why? People are idiots and buy this stuff. There is so much good coffee from reputable roasters at a significantly better price to performance ratio. I'm really shocked by it in such a competitive marketplace.

  • I ordered from these guys ($60 for 2kg delivered is awesome), delivered in less than 24 hours but I am in Sydney. We started using the Vivace yesterday (waited until in the optimal range they suggest) and followed their instructions in coffee in and coffee out and I honestly say it is one of the best tasting coffees we have had and that includes coffee out at coffee shops. Super impressed, if in doubt give them a go.

  • Why no 1kg bags for the decaf?
