Crimsafe vs Invisiguard

Need to get security screen doors.
Trying to decide between crimsafe and invisiguard.
Any recommendations with reasons from experience is much appreciated 🙏🏻 thanks

If it's not crimesafe, it's not crimesafe.

    • Haha that was my first thought too.

  • Just to note a good quality DIY option, we are happy with this one: https://www.seconline.com.au/security-hinged-screen-door-ste…

They say that if you live within 1km of the coast you must wash and rinse the screen door every 2 weeks or void the warranty.

Had a break in where I work a while ago and they damaged the screen door to get into one part of the building. Replaced it with a crimsafe screen door.

The thieves came back a few months later and seems like they just tore through the crimsafe door as easily as the old screen door that was on there before.

If you are looking for that more open look, they would work better than a regular screen door, as someone can’t just walk through it, but as a function to keeping would be thieves out, you are probably only adding 30 seconds to their entry/exit time.

Note that this is just my experience and the thieves in your area may be dumber or less equipped than ours. I think that they offer great protection over a regular screen door, but they are not as impenetrable as they make them out to be.

I agree, where I live security screens are regularly torn off with ease. Might still be worthwhile though, you want to be harder to break into than your neighbours.

  • Live in a high crime area? If not, doesn’t really matter so get the cheapest.

  • In Asia and the US you can get a solid interior door (like some sort of metal) but the outside is timber. Anyone seen those in Australia??

  • i have a crimsafe baseball bat behind my bed

You want real crim safe get a steel security screen door

A camera that records to the cloud (and a sign that says so) might also be a good deterrent.

Keep in mind that these still affixed into the door jam, so it's still the same point of failure.

But in saying that I would get a Crimsafe, just because people know the name and it could deter a random targeting thief and put you in the to much effort box and look for easier targets

I had a Crimsafe door installed by an authorised agent. After the installation I could have driven a truck through the gap on the latch side. It appeared that the sales rep got the measurements wrong or it happened during fabrication. The Crimsafe agent refused to remake the door and instead installed a metal packing strip on the hinge side.
I hate the matt black mesh which always looks dirty despite regular vacuuming and washing with the approved detergent.

  • We are looking at either getting a Crimsafe screen door or Invisi-Guard door, however we have been told that the air flow through them isn't good? This is the main reasons we are wanting to put a screen door on the front door, so we can leave the front door open and let the fresh air through the house.

    • You’ve got a choice to make. You can have great airflow or a screen door. A door made of steel/allum bars without flyscreen mesh will be good security and provide good airflow but not keep bugs out. Anything with a flyscreen sized mesh will reduce airflow (a bit) but there will be no bugs getting in. Flyscreen still allows breeze in, just jot as much as an open door.
