Where to Put Basketball Hoop?

I have a paved area.
One end has grass the other has a roller door to the garage.

Which end do put a basketball hoop at for kids?

If they want to bounce the ball - Not on the grass end.

Get a freestanding unit. You can then adjust the height and move around as required. When the kids get over it you can sell it and there's no holes to repair.

You may also want to remove your address from the photo.

    • Oops didn’t even notice it on there

Delete the image from ibb as well as the link can still be seen in the revision of this post.

I say leave it and host an ozbargain king of the court tournament

  • I assume that garage door isn't used to house any cars given the lack of track marks on the grass.

I would also put a free standing basketball system on the paved area, where you can practice layups and other Ben Simmons ranged shots.

Any long range shots are possible but on the grass which doesn't have the same feel off the hop.

Also you run the risk of long rebounds going next door there.

I would put a freestanding hoop facing away from the house, on the lawn just after the paving area.

Pros - Still has a playable surface, won't have to move the hoop for temporary parking, projectiles will end up quietly landing on the lawn instead of the roof, and hopefully less likely for the ball to go over the fence or end up with a broken window
Cons - Will likely result with a dead patch on your lawn

Putting the hoop in front of the garage door is a recipe for missed shots banging against the door (from experience). Not great for the door, even worse for noise management. In your photo against the door does allow for long rage shots too.

  • What about on the wall to the right of the door?
