    Too many!
Each time I opened a new account a few years ago to grab the 'bonus interest' I ended up with a new card, damn it!
Managed to close a couple of the account, but others, like Volt, etc are just to hard to close. Gave up in the end… Can't even remember if I got a card from Volt now that I think about it.
    Bit of a mess… ha!

and if your phone goes flat or malfunctions?

What if you forget your wallet?

Same thing really. I haven't used a physical debit card in like 2 years. My phone is very reliable and I charge it every night.

Plus there's no risk of losing it and having someone find it and use tap and pay before you realise it is gone and suspend it. Can't use apple pay without the passcode. Plus you can pay for online purchases without having to give out your credit card number. And two people can use the same card without having to get additional physical cards from the bank. I am pretty sure once someone tries it they'll never want to have a physical card again.

I just wish it was possible to have a physical ID on it, a few times I have gone to the doctor and forgot to bring my Medicare card in and they won't see me, despite being to that practice and seeing that receptionist 10+ times previously. Despite that I much prefer never needing to have a wallet and just need my phone which I would have with me anyway.

        • Good point! I have to admit I rarely carry a wallet myself but usually have a spare card in the car or something just in case. It does seem more secure being digital only. Did you know there is a Medicare app that can be used to show your medicare card? I use that. Also have a digital driver's license (SA) but have found some places won't accept it as ID (like when I went to make a cash withdrawal from a NAB branch)…

          • @peterwilliams83: That's handy!! I will get that app. I'm guessing in the next ten years digital ID will be normal, fingers crossed.

  • No comments for several years but I was just thinking about this myself. I have quite a few cards, some I never use but can't be bothered closing (looking at you revolt).

I am thinking of opening a St George for shopback deals

  • -CBA
    -ANZ
    -Westpac
    -NAB
    -St George
    -Wise
    -Revolut

    And 2 foreign cards

    • WHY ???
I understand having one debit card and a second one for your shared account with wifey, and a couple credit cards,

but why having so many debit cards? How do you load them? my income only goes on one card.

        CBA opened since I arrived.
Opened up ANZ 1 year after to have balance between 2 banks.
Westpac - 2020 hits, they were the only bank gives higher interest (2-3% at the time). Also my landlord at the time works at Westpac
NAB - to get the offer for Credit card
St George - cheaper CC AF

        Wise - foreign transaction
Revolut - extra $350 withdrawal / per month outside of Australia.

Apart from that, I have a Amex CC rn (and have closed 3 CC this FY). Going to apply for the St George soon.
