    Are you a frequent traveler

    Not these days…

  • I was but not for the last 18 months

I'd rather get S.H.I.E.L.D. protection than HYDRA, thanks.

Cut off one server and two more will take it's place!

  • JV is in a conversation type mood tonight Lol, he’s on a role.

    • he’s on a role

      Playing Tom Bruise.

      • 100% lol

    • Oh! shit no.

This is my opening page …. I am tempted to shut down now.

  • Is this common with VPNs? Check point 3 (middle of page) regarding the significant decrease in net speeds.

It's quite fast in my 8 years of experience, just pick the best server based on speed tests.

I wouldn't be purchasing a VPN service on the basis of a VPN review site. they're all notoriously paid partisan & dodgy.

    Going out of business sale.

  • I guess the "Lifetime Subscription" means this VPN company is going to reach the end of its lifetime soon.

    • People say that everytime there is a lifetime deal on stacksocial. Some of them have been giving lifetime subscriptions for longer than 5 years

  • Can you choose a specific country for your ip ? how much speed is affected ?

  • How are the reviews

I've been using them for close to 8 years now and for the $2USD a month I pay it's pretty good. It's cheap because I bundle with Usenet.

This deal however, does not get you access to all their servers. I bought it as an extra 12 months ago so I could have more concurrent logons but only got full access because I complained they didn't state the restrictions (limited servers/countries) before I purchased.

    • Concurrent logins…
So you can't set the connection up at your router?

    • bundle ?

Worth knowing that this VPN is based in the USA. One of the 5 eyes alliance.

    https://www.vpnranks.com/vpn-comparison/

    • So not recommended for online jihadists then?

      • Not for priests looking for child pornography either.

    • but the US also has good privacy laws. I can't imagine any of the world's state security services being too worried about people fudging their location for streaming/shopping/gaming. if you're using it for the darkweb/secret comms, etc then I wouldn't trust most VPNs on the market to protect me. TOR is compromised these days.

they don't tell you this but they are always 5 year deals.
all of the ones ive bought in the past have expired despite being lifetime.
when reaching out to the vendors they said they just signed 5 yrs with stacksocial… it's borderline scam.

I've had all my previous vpn deals expired except for Vpnunlimited which has some sort of partnership/ownership structure with stacksocial.

    • funny I bought an ivacy lifetime one 4yrs ago and noticed it expires next year, so i asked and they said "yeah it's lifetime, you just need to tell us and we'll roll over another 5yrs" so i guess it's designed to cull accounts.

how is VPNunlimited these days? ingrabbed a 3yr deals years ago and 12mths in it was so slow it was almost unusuable even for browsing

      • How do you find Ivacy VPN? Is it fast? If you use the Windows and Android apps what are they like?

Not too bad. speedtest now (Sun 5pm)
          LA 79/20
          Syd 85/25
          Lon 84/22

          Nord
          LA 95/25
          Syd 82/33
          Lon 92/24

          • @M00Cow: Thanks. Yeah that's pretty good speeds.

  • I paid for a lifetime backup 1TB cloud service advertised through Stacksocial.
2 years later I got a message saying they're closing their Australian server and that I could get a 90% discount on their yearly "Business" plan based in the USA, the issue was their plans were several hundred dollars annually. I tried complaining to get at least some refund but they were not interested.
I will never trust Stacksocial again, you should not either.

  • I tried it. It's awful.

The client app has serious issues.
It won't auto-start with Windows, even if you check the box to ask it to.
It won't reconnect after the PC has resumes from hibernation.
I've seen plenty of reviews say it occasionally shows the wrong IP, though didn't strike this myself.
It randomly won't connect to servers, you are told you're using invalid credentials, you then have to close and restart the client.

The list of servers on this particular plan is woeful. Maybe a dozen or so in the States and a handful elsewhere. None in Oceania.
And worst of all, they throttle torrents. When I could get a torrent client to connect (that was a task in itself), uploads wouldn't happen, or they might, but at no more than 5-20kbs.
