I've been waiting for this to come down in price and today it's $98.57 plus delivery which is the cheapest I've seen (at least since Feb 2021, some pricing visible @ CamelX3. The best price otherwise on the 'net is around $119. If you don't have prime then it doesn't stack up though as non prime delivery is high.

EDIT: skin only, battery is not included. Pretty much like all of these types of tools / deals.

Usually dispatched within 1 to 4 weeks.

Second time poster, please be nice.

  • Got one as a gift. Not bad.

Better to mention, battery is not included.

    • Thanks that answered my question I just posted.

  • Have been looking for easy solution to car tyre maintenance. Presuming you have to buy the battery pack in addition to this?

    • yes.

great system to get into fwiw.

Never buy a separate battery and/or charger if this will be your entry to Makita (or any) ecosystem. Buy a combo kit with other tools that you may need instead. It will be much cheaper. If you already have an existing charger and battery(ies) then this is a good deal.

For example this kit is only $299. Just the battery+charger kit is around $200; so you're basically getting the blower for free. Also you don't have to wait for shipping from Amazon UK.

      • Good advice - you're right… batteries by themselves are bloody expensive as are the chargers. You can also luck out from time to time buying the kits, as they do "buy X product and get a free battery by redemption" deals every now and then. That's how I started my collection and managed to get a stack of batteries :) /

  • It's a pity there's now trigger lock on this even though it has auto shut off once it gets to the set pressure

    • +2

Agree 100% - I've got a couple of the DeWalt equivalents and one of the best thing about those is the screw on hose.

Incidentally last year the Dewalt had a combo deal of the inflator and a 4A battery for $199 which was an excellent deal.

    • Sticky Tape or Zip Tie? ;)

      • Yeh there's always a workaround but such a simple thing that should be on the tool already.
(That should read "no" trigger lock in my original comment)

    • Agree. To get around this I have a velcro cable tie around the handle and use that if I cbf waiting crouched by the car.

Also I’ve noticed the auto shut off doesnt seem overly accurate, where it’ll shut off too early. The thing will get you out if a tight situation but I tend to still go to the servo to do mine generally

      • Velcro strap is a good idea. Better than a cable tie slashing your hand on an ice cold morning.

It has a 5min on/off duty cycle. Is it cutting out before 5min use?

        • Yeah it does. I find if I squeeze it a couple times after stopping it’ll keep going. I expected it to be slightly better at auto cutoff at the right moment but I can live with it. Its handy to not need the cigarette lighter or battery leads.

    • Yeah I totally agree. Even the auto off seems a bit tricky, I had it set to 36 PSI the other day and it reached the target but the pump kept going/making sounds versus actually turning off (not sure if pressure would increase though). Unideal.

RE: the cable ties idea, I have some rubber ones that would suit this perfectly, pull the trigger and then slide it on.

To be honest I'm really only adding ~10 psi per tyre really so its not a huge drama.

  • Thanks OP. bought one. What is the cheapest battery to go with this?

    • +1

Pretty sure you have to use makita ones. So this is a good deal if you’re already invested into makita ecosystem otherwise it’s not worth it as makita 18v batteries are not cheap

      • +1

you have to start somewhere… its a great system to get into.

Something like this would suit someone wanting the inflator and needing to buy into the system.

Blower is always handy and you get the inflator, 5ah battery and charger for $299. You'll spend $98.57 on this inflator and $199 on a 3ah battery & charger pack ($297.57 total).

So you get a bigger battery and a blower for the same price you'd spend buying separately. If looking to purchase this inflator and get into the Makita ecosystem.

Also paying the extra $20 to buy local and get the 5 year warranty would be my choice in this instance as the price difference is minimal and I know I can take it to any Makita dealer in Australia and get it repaired.

Heh, I posted the same thing before I saw your comment.

  • So next question can anyone tell me what the right battery pack is that you would add to it?

    • +1

    • MAKITA 18V Lithium-Ion Batteries

You can get copies/fakes online, but you get what you pay for.
If you're slowing building up your tool set, you're better off sticking to one brand/ecosystem for the ease of battery use/charging.

  • My go to Milwaukee m12 inflator, plenty knock off batteries n chargers on ebay.

    https://www.totaltools.com.au/123900-milwaukee-m12-compact-i…

    • Milwaukee is a touch quicker too, in a side by side comparison. More compact and you can set the psi, press a button and walk away. It will auto cutoff when it reaches desired psi.

The makita has a trigger you need to hold. Or there’s the work arounds previously mentioned. Cable tie/ Velcro etc.

Honestly it will most likely come down to which ecosystem you are already invested in and not these differences I just mentioned.

  • Does anyone know if this can be used for a small pressure pot or an airbrush set up? On the hunt for something I can use for setting resin and airbrush model painting.

    • Nah I seriously doubt it as there is no reservoir.

  • anyone know how the warranty would work? Would Makita Aus cover it or would it need to go back to the UK?

  • +1

Just buy it in Oz for $9 more.
Peace of mind with warranty too

      ummm ~$30 more

      • Plus postage from the UK brings it back to $9
That link I posted to Total Tools includes free delivery, and you don’t have to wait 4 weeks.
I’m pretty sure Makita AU won’t honour any warranty for UK sourced gear
Seems a no brainer to me

        • All good, I have prime, so didn't look at delivery fees.

  • Holy shit OP, I've been waiting so long for this.
