[Klarna] Ryzen CPU: 5950X $899.25, 5900X $629.25, 5800X $471.75, 5600X $321.75 (Prices after Waiver) + Delivery @ PC Case Gear

1610

As part of this deal you can get 25% off your order if you use Klarna (similar to Afterpay) and that makes these four Ryzen CPUs down to some of the lowest prices they've been. Postage appears to be $15 nationwide.

For customers to be eligible to have the 4th and final payment waived the first, second and third instalments must have been paid in full and on time. Order will show the full price through the entirety of checkout, you will receive an email afterwards saying "We've got your final payment covered"

If it were me I'd be jumping on the 5950X and 5900X as they're priced really low for a lot of power, however they're likely overkill for most people and the 5800X/5600X is more than enough for gaming.

Note: Credit check will be made.

Does Klarna hit your credit file, as Afterpay doesn't

edit - found the answer, it's a 90 day check everytime you make a purchase with Klarna

    • So it’s only visible for 90 days on your file or forever? Sorry bit new to credit files.

      • +7

Inquiries remain listed on your file for 5 years.
Klarna makes one for every purchase that is more than 90 days apart from the previous purchase, or if you change address since your last purchase.

      • +9

Great price, but credit check is not as good as after pay, they will check your credit when you make purchase, and if you're not active for 90 days, and then make another purchase, they will do another check.

We will perform a credit check when:

Purchasing with a ‘One time card’ for the first time.
At check out from a partnered merchant.
When making a new purchase, if your account has been inactive for more than 90 days.

        • But they claim it will not affect your credit score?

        • but if you pay it off immediately doesn't that prove you a. have money, and b. you can be trusted to repay money back and at worst the effect is neutral on credit, not seeing why it should be negative?

          • +4

@bobvegas: Bigger loan companies, for say mortgages, are taking this as a part of your "lifestyle" and thus lowering the amount they'll loan you to factor this sort of thing in.

          • -1

@bobvegas: Banks want you to pay the extra fees, not avoid them. Paying everything off early / on time to avoid fees is actually bad for your credit score.

          • +1

@bobvegas: Credit inquiries only show the requesting company's name, the amount and the type of credit.

Once an account is established, it goes on your credit file with an opening date, amount of credit available and whether it's "current" i.e. not in default. As long as it's not in default, making repayments earlier makes no difference. They don't show the difference between someone making minimum repayments and paying off the full closing balance.

            • +1

@twister292: I remember when i used to pay off coles and woolies in full before, it used to have a positive impact on my score

              • @kehuehue: If you look at the credit card account details on the file, it does record whether the account is current or has any missed payments. You only need to make minimum payments to stay current, making full payment doesn't make a difference.

    • +10

      F that

    • People keep saying this but I don't know what it means. Is it actually a bad thing?

      • +8

Too many credit checks may affect your ability to get more credit at a later date (e.g. home loan).

        • +3

can confirm, all these credit card deals (and subsequent credit checks) bought my credit score down to 400. ever since it fell to 500-600 ive been declined. inclined to try for this CPU though LOL

and (profanity) Citi also has accounts on file which they have closed but still appearing on my credit file

          • +1

@kehuehue: THIS IS CRAZY, banks should be tracking deals like this, knowing why it is people are using these credit sharks

          • +1

@kehuehue: Closed accounts show for up to 2 years after their closure

        • And if your lender reviews your bank statements as part of your loan application, even a single transaction with a Buy Now Pay Later provider can attract all sorts of scrutiny.

        • My credit rating was very average possible low 600's, from swapping too many CC's for deals and balance transfers. Bank manager laughed at me when I asked how my average credit score would affect my house purchase and said it doesn't affect you at all. Long story short still got the loan.

        • How do you find out what your credit rating is? I've never checked/asked before.

          • @Ice009: There are lots of websites that are run by the credit rating agencies that you sign up to. Alternatively you can request your credit file which doesn't have a rating on it, but all relevant information.

Just know that you don't need to pay for your credit information which often isn't clear. The payments generally get you the same information, just perhaps faster or more frequently

            • @RMBC: Hi, thanks for the reply. Can you give me an example of a website I could use to get credit information from. I really wouldn't know about this stuff at all. I also didn't know you could pay for the information.

              • @Ice009: In no particular order…

                Creditsavvy.com.au
                Getcreditscore.com.au
                Creditsimple.com.au

Each is backed by a different credit provider, so the scores are likely to be different

Crazy pricing 5900x for less than I paid for my 5800x

  • Wow. Those are great prices!

Interesting that CPUs have dropped in price, but the GPUs are still so high.

    • cuz GPUs could mine and make money…..

    • +11

Klarna are taking the 25% hit on this promotion so they haven't fallen as far as you think they have.

      • +2

Yep, plus one is causing the other: no GPUs means less people building a new PC and so CPUs sit on shelves.

    • GPU have to deal with RAM as well, as you have noticed, we haven't had many RAM deals lately.

The silicon as well has to be a better quality too

      • +1

patriot viper 4400mhz still a great price for b die got mine at 3866 c14 for like $135

        • Not stable I bet. Wouldn't risk windows getting corrupted a year down the track for that no way

          • +1

@bumluffa: 5000% chi memtest, 30+ cycles of tm5, 8 hours of linpack extreme, y cruncher for 3 hours. id say its preety rock solid (profanity) stable.

            • @abjsdhasehasee: anta777 extreme preset?

              • @bumluffa: yes ofc

                • @abjsdhasehasee: Pretty interesting. Do you get any WHEA errors? And what voltage are you running the sticks at?

              • @bumluffa: you act like 3866 c14 is a crazy number when almost all b die can do 3800 c14

                • @abjsdhasehasee: The 1.58v makes sense. It's not a crazy number when you throw that much voltage at it.

                  • @bumluffa: true but its safe to daily so idrc, b die wont degrade until very crazy voltages which before that will kill your cpu., i could go to 1.6v and lower trcdrd and trp more but not bothered rn, ima just go for 130ns trfc latency on 1.58v.

  • +6

I paid $1299 for 5950x not so long ago fml

    • Me also, though i got the motherboard included for that price. :-(

    • $900+ 5900x gang where you at

    • +2

Everyone was warned over and over to be patient till prices and supply stabilised though. You just got caught on early adopter pricing during the high demand and low supply period

      • Sadly, prices never came down - the chip shortage has kept demand higher than supply.

        • so this price is the same as it was 2 months ago? so they never came down.

    • I paid $1018 and feel gipped.

      • +7

Economic, marketing and purchasing behaviour theory in full swing. At the time you were willing to pay $1018 despite the information you had on hand and made the decision to purchase. Thus, marketing strategy worked by leveraging human behaviour knowing that at that price point there is willingness to buy ;) there is also the early adopter pricing for technology, initial release price is always highest when companies know ppl who are desperate will buy at a higher price then mid way through the product lifecycle it will return to it's RRP then at the end of it's life cycle will end up at significant discounts when it is facing discontinuation or replacement by a newer model.

        • There's also the subsidy aspect of the purchase👍

      • +2

I paid $750 for my 5800x and don't feel gipped at all. I mentally accepted that this would be the outcome in the near future and I paid for instant gratification.

  • +2

Wow massive bargain at those prices

  • I recently bought

Gigabyte B550 AORUS PRO AX AMD AM4 Wi-Fi 6 ATX Motherboard

from Amazon. Are any of these CPU’s a good match for this board? I’m using the computer for video and photo editing with 64GB ram CL16. Not looking to overclock or tweak. Standard silverstone ar12 rgb fan cooler.

    • Generally for video processing/rendering the more cores/threads you have the better it will perform. Ryzen 5900X is a good choice and I know many use it for Da Vinci and other more demanding programs. Your motherboard is fine for it, but the CPU cooler unfortunately I don't think is going to cut it. You're probably going to want

The motherboard you've chosen is fine but my concern would be the cooler isn't good enough. Perhaps going for a larger CPU cooler or a liquid AIO. I'm sure some fellow OzBargainers can chip in with their opinion on the matter.

      • Doesn't rendering mainly depend on single core performance?

        • +1

It depends on what program you're using and its requirements.

          • @Clear: I was thinking of Premier. I remember Adobe publishing a blog post explaining how it is impossible for video rendering/exporting to use more than one core.

    • +1

That board has been recommended by reviewers as pretty much top pick for Ryzen. It can handle all 8 and 16 core ryzen CPUs of 3000 or 5000 gen.

      • I'm confused on whether an x570 board really adds more features compared to a good B550 board

        • +4

They barely do. the main thing you get with x570 is that the chipset runs at pcie 4.0 standard as opposed to b550's chipset runs at pcie 3.0. and don't confuse this with the pcie 4.0 that comes off the cpu (3000/5000 series only). for example if you had 2x PCIE4.0 NVME M.2 SSD'S, on a x570, both could run at pcie 4.0 speeds, but on a b550 only the one connected to the cpu would run at 4.0, the other connected to the chipset would run at 3.0 on a b550. mileage may vary. for gaming, you'd barely even see difference between a SATA SSD to NVME loading games. but for production workloads you'd see significant loading advantages from NVME SSDs.

  • +3

these prices are great and all but whats the point if you can't get a gpu, just don't bother buying if you don't have a gpu and the prices will only drop further.

    • There has been a heap of GPU deals this week. A lot more availability than a month ago.

      • +2

        just hold…. hold….

        • +2

I have an RTX 3080 on the way and even now I feel a little regret knowing it'll get cheaper. I just can't wait any longer!

          • +7

@Clear: well, if you don't have a useable card ATM then go for it. just don't come back to OZB in the following months…

            • +1

@HD9990: I stopped impulse buying random junk years ago because it was cheap. Most OzBargainers can't say the same :P

              • @Clear: why you got to call us out like that! (its true)

    • PCCG have a bunch of nvidia GPUs in stock. Couldnt u add one to ur order for 25% off? sorry if im wrong, not sure if there are exclusions or a maximum discount limit.
but damn, 1k off a 3090 would bring it down to an almost reasonable price :)
edit: yep, just saw the terms of the deal. Knew itd be too good to be true. oh well maybe GPU prices will start to drop over the next few months

    • +1

It's highly unlikely, the rrp of the 5000 series is more than the 3000 series (and newer too) yet this 5600x is at the same price as recent 3600x ozbargain deals. It's the Klarna deal that makes it so good, not the cpu price itself.

  • +2

What would people recommend between the 5600x and i5-11600KF?

Intel is cheaper, faster at base and boost clocks but almost double the TDP. Plan to cool either with an AIO.

Will be using mostly for gaming (iRacing - which I've read is mostly single core focussed and random shooters).

The deals and discussions posted recently have mostly focused on AMD, so am I missing something here about the Intel being not as good?

If I do get this, I'd be upgrading from a 4690k @ 4.2. what are people's thoughts on if this is a worthy upgrade or just wait another 6-12 months?

GPU by the way is a 2060 Super if that affects decision making.

    • +3

      5600x all day long

    • +1

I went from 4th gen Intel to a 5600X because it was a cheap and it's been a big improvement for gaming. You can grab the 5800X for more cores/threads but it really adds very little FPS in games compared to the 5600X. It is however more future proof.

Right now my advice would be jump on a good CPU deal when you see one.

      • Thanks Clear and micsway!

What are your thoughts on PCCG's combo packs like this one

Not sure if I can stretch the extra $150 to the 5800x, as I still need to factor in an AIO. I was also only recently just considering the 3600 so the 5600x is already a jump haha.

I'd be keeping my case, GPU and PSU, m.2 SSD and various sata SSD and HDD.

Only just starting to read into motherboards now. Anything I should look out for? E.g. is there any reason I should go for an x570 version of the Aorus Pro over the B550 one in my starter pack above?

        Thanks for your time 😊

        • +1

The packs are certainly good value but sometimes the RAM can be had cheaper and sometimes they don't always include the best RAM either. If you're looking at changing the speed/timings then the die being used is important. There's a whole lot of posts here and around the web like Reddit that explains timings, what die to look out for etc.

Something like Patriot Viper Steel is a good option if you're looking to change speed/timings as they're factory clocked at 4400MHz with Samsung B Die and you can bring them to something like CL14 3600MHz quite easily. Obviously for an average gamer that really doesn't matter too much.

X570 boards typically have the advantage of having more PCIe 4.0 slots available for use. E.g. 2 PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots instead of 1 PCIe 3.0 and 1 PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots. For most people I think B550 is more than enough.

      • +1

It is however more future proof.

Especially since new Xbox and PS5 are 8 cores / 16 threads, game developers will start designing their games with that in mind.

    • +1

The deals and discussions posted recently have mostly focused on AMD, so am I missing something here about the Intel being not as good

Yeah AMD was the best bang-for-buck for a while, but intel lowered prices to stay competitive, and AMD charged more for their new even-faster ones like 5600x. So for a few months intel was the better option at SOME price points.

If 5600x and i5-11600KF are the same price (including a good motherboard!) then 5600x wins, but there's actually very little difference between them.

    • +1

You will see noticeable gains in fps. I went 4690k to 5600x and friend did the same on the intel side and we're about par. I'd recommend amd if you're doing heavy work, too (Only recommending from those two things i stated).

Depends how much you save to go Intel. You'll need a new mobi regardless and amd's mobos are generally cheaper. Try not to pay over $150 unless you need a specific feature.

Edit: your 2060 will be your bottleneck if you get a 5600x. I think you will be happy with a 3600 if you want to save a bunch

    • +1

check out Tom's Hardware's CPU gaming hierarchy here: https://www.tomshardware.com/uk/reviews/cpu-hierarchy,4312.h…
Just looking at 1080p, the 5600X performs 96.49% of the best while the 11600K (no F just means no iGPU and doesn't affect performance) only performs 89.66% of the best, so that that as you will when comparing their prices.
IMO, if your current MOBO can support the new intel chip then it would be much better to go for that path, whereas with AMD you would have to buy a new MOBO to work with it on top of the CPU.

  • +2

Tempting but my 8700k is still holding up very well at 1400p.

    • +2

I was ready to bite the bullet on a new mobo/cpu but I did a benchmark and compared and I decided I really don't need to upgrade yet. Running an i7-6700K which I haven't even OCed yet so I think I'm right for a while. So tempting at 25% off tho…

      • same cpu but with 1080ti gpu. for VR I really need to upgrade, but like everyone else holding off. My theory is no point upgrading just one component if theres going to be a massive bottleneck……

  • I've got a 9900k….must resist….if I buy this then I'd have to buy a motherboard too…

    • +2

      I've got a 9900k

You wouldn't be able to tell any difference without an FPS counter on the screen. Total waste of money.

      • +2

Bought it anyways and am going to resell my existing CPU and mobo. Couldn't resist

        • Consider me interested in your 9900k :p

          • @nomoneynoproblems: Will probably sell on ebay as I got a free listing offer. Need to get rid of the mobo as well. Hoping to recoup $500 at least for both.

  • PowerColor Radeon RX 6800 XT Red Devil OC 16GB RDNA 2 from 1999 down to 1499 isn't that bad right?

    • +1

Once you factor in shipping, it goes over $2000 and becomes ineligible for this promotion.

      • that sucks lol

  • +2

Because of how the cores are setup, the 5800x can outperform the 5900x in some games (when there is no GPU bottleneck): https://images.anandtech.com/graphs/graph16220/119170.png

    More games here: https://www.anandtech.com/show/16214/amd-zen-3-ryzen-deep-di…

In terms of absolute CPU gaming performance, only the low resolution benchmarks are really relevant (and only really from a future-proofing perspective) since there's minimal GPU bottlenecking.

Are these laptops any good? Quality wise ? Looks pretty cheap for 2060 laptop only $1274.25

  • Not clear when will I get 25% off? I added to the cart and it shows 1214$ with delivery. When I click Place Order - Klarna gives me 4 payments x 303$. So where is 25% off?

    • +1

They cover the last payment. It’s still there but they cover it.

    • How are they not accurate or misleading? As per the original Klarna deal linked in the OP.

For eligible customers making a purchase between $10 and $2,000 using Klarna at a participating merchants online store, Klarna will waive the fourth and final repayment of that purchase. The order made with the merchants will show the full order value – this discount will come about as a result of the fourth and final repayment being waived.
