Looking @ LG C1 pairing it with hue hdmi sync looks amazing but the extra $500 just for the box isn't great. What I want to know if any models have this already integrated?

Are you sure it is better? Assuming you are able to live with the camera post sticking out on top of the TV, the reviews seem to be mixed including some on youtube where you can clearly see the camera failing to pickup the correct regions and colour changes on the screen. I don't have one but interested to know what your experience is.

Better because it will work with anything you put on the tv. Hue will not work with DRM protected content.
You are sitting in the dark when using these lights, I find the camera not noticeable really. I got the Immersion for under $100 during Prime Day sales. The Hue sync box is $500 alone, and then few hundred $ for the led strips on top of that, plus the content limitations.. it’s a no brainer.

My dislike for these colour damaging lights aside, there is a new Govee model that allows you to have the camera at the bottom of the TV, thus reducing the unsightliness to a degree.

The OLED's look pretty competitively priced though.Any idea how the Phillips would compare to LG for gaming?
What are you trying to achieve with the light?
You have two options generally, a D65 white point balanced bias light to help reduce eye strain if watching in the dark. This will have zero effect of the perceived colour and contrast of the TV, it will only aid you.
Or, you have the coloured light systems that will alter the perceived colour and contrast of your tv in a negative manner.If you want some great D65 white point accurate bias lighting to help the tv, then I can suggest the Media Light LX1 or MK2 as the best options https://www.biaslighting.com.au/

Out of interest what is the difference between the LX1 and the MK2? I see the warranties are different but as noob in this I cant see any major difference other than price point.

Thanks I didn't know that was a thing. What I am trying to achieve is the most immersive (non-VR) PS5 setup. Watching youtube the hue setup is pretty impressive but maybe it is just a gimmick and I an better off considering a bias light solution.
Thanks, I was researching the Hue strip & decided to get a Medialight Mk2 instead for my LG C1.
I have 2 Ikea wall mount tube lamps attached to a cheap wall mount on the back of my TV. Total cost ~$60. I've had this going since before LEDs were affordable.
I find a constant brightness and colour temperature much less fatiguing to the eyes.
Bigger question is, do you really need this feature?
I think having a higher quality TV like LG CX/C1 will far outweight any "benefits" you get from this Ambilight feature you try to accomplish…
but what if you combined with the C1?
Is it worth the extra $500 like you said in the original post? In my honest opinion, no way, the max I would pay for this gimmick would be $50.
Maybe you can use those $500 to upgrade to an even better OLED, I think it is G-series on LG?But then again, simps on Twitch streams donate hundreds of dollars just so a pretty girl would say their name out loud, so feel free to spend your money on something that brings you happiness.
Lighting isn’t a gimmick, imo. It complements the viewing experience, upgrading the tv is irrelevant.
@socheap: Do you want an accurate representation of the media as it was intended or do you want something that will actively hurt their intentions?
The active stuff looks cool, but for those of us that want the most accurate experience. Do you want Ronin or Fast and Furious? Do you want Gran Turismo or Twisted Metal?

Have not found a good alternative to Phillips yet - the DIY kits from Ebay dont work properly..Dream colour light box are the best value I've seen, all reviews are pretty good and YouTube tutorials etc. Best thing is it just goes straight to the TV via hdmi with no lag, no running devices through a box and losing any hdmi 2.1 etc it just simply reads the tv. Found it on ebay if anyone can find it cheaper let me know as I will also purchase one
