RM Williams Comfort Craftsman & Dynamic Flex Craftsman Boots $459.99 (RRP $595) (Free Shipping) @ Oz Australia

160

Not the lowest it's been, but for the moment a decent deal for RM Williams that includes both G and H Fit in standard Chestnut and Black colours (there are even some Dark Tan H Fit Comfort Craftsmans available). I understand someone wrote on here about a price rise happening on 1 August? so perhaps last opportunities to get a markdown like this on the $595 RRP before it goes up (the last price rise was in 2018 of $50). Deal ends this Friday (9th).

All G Black Comfort Craftsman and Dynamic Flex are available at time of posting.
Some options allow you to preorder at the same price (ie. Comfort Craftsman G Chestnut size 9) otherwise they're marked as sold out with no option.
The Classic Craftsman Black Natural Edge G has a larger markdown from $645 to $459.99 as well and can be preordered.

More "standard" discounts are available on other RMs in their range like the Adelaide Boots and Comfort Turnout.

Free shipping for orders above $100 so no need to calculate that on top.

And for some of the obvious posts to expect below in the comments…

  • "Too expensive"; if buying a different pair of shoes that you think are just as good for a cheaper price like a Blundstone or even Rivers, then go with whatever floats your boat. Those who wear RMs know it for how long it lasts, looks, and how it can be maintained (ie. resoled) so we would consider it a worthwhile investment. I have had two pairs for 8 years and resoled them twice, looked after with polish and conditioner and they still look fantastic (alternating them each weekday).

  • "Dynamic or Comfort"; the Dynamic flex has a leather/rubber sole and a removable insole which can have orthotics inserted. The Comfort Craftsman has a rubber outsole and fixed comfort insole. I personally go with the Comfort Craftsman.

  • "Chestnut or Black"; if your first pair, then general chatter is to go with Chestnut which can work for either business or casual. If anyone is going Dark Tan they will look great for casual wear.

  • "G or H Fit"; go into a RMs store and get yourself fitted first to be safe.

  • Had good experience with Oz Australia when I bought a hat. Great communication and shipping.

    • Hey mate, just confirming with their sizing - are they advertising as RM Williams size or USA size?

  • Never manage to find the F fit on sale :(

Head straight to allingtons next time theres a sale. I was in same boat, and rang them up, they did a special order for me for F fit at same sale price. Lady i spoke to was incredible, customer service is awesome. Highly recommend them.

  • If only the D fit was standard, my poor narrow feet…

Wow I sell the wrong products in my job. Just imagine the mark up on one pair of these gross wise I mean. I already sell 75-85% marked up items but that's on cheap items usually under 40bucks. The gross amount of mark up on a pair of these sheesh this company would be killing it.

Luxury goods, made in Australia. French luxury giant LVMH Group owns 49% of RM Williams, as well as ownership in brands like Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Marc Jacobs, Tag Heuer, Givenchy, Moet & Chandon and Bvlgari.

How long until the Chinese knockoffs?

Are you claiming to know what their profit margin is? How much does it cost to make a unique award winning boot in Australia?

    • -1

What’s their markup? How is it any higher than any other company trying to make a profit? These are handmade, extremely high quality leather and made in Australia. The reason they are so popular is because they are priced right - they look great, are easily the most comfortable boot or shoe I’ve ever worn and they last 10-15-20 years depending on if you look after them. You pay for what you get with shoes - if I’m spending 12 hours a day on my feet you better believe I’m buying something of quality.

the standard yearling leather they use isn't "extremely high quality", it's low/entry-level quality. look at the used pairs on ebay to see how badly it ages - the leather comes from a large cow, is heavily pigmented/processed and does not age well.

the french calf they use is nice and is a step up compared to yearling, but it still isn't "extremely high quality". the quality is inconsistent, like they are getting the lower grade left-overs and/or switching between tanneries.

"extremely high quality" would be something like an aniline french calf or shell cordovan from a name brand tannery like d'Annonay or horween.

        • yep as i already said price per mark up is ridiculous for the quality and price asking

However the cost of resoling boots is getting pretty expensive too….

  • Agree with the OP.

I have a pair of leather-soled boots that have to be 20+ years old. The have been re-soled and have had the elastic replaced, but gee they are so comfortable. The leather is cracking these days and the toes got scratched from being under the airline seat in front of me, so they are not for formal dinners, but they just fit like an old shoe!

I also have a younger pair of the dynamics - they took a while to break in, but still look like new, because they get the attention they deserve.

Word of caution - dynamic flex and comfort craftsman don't have the exact same sizing - because your foot rests higher in the flex. Size a half size up if you sized yourself for the comfort craftsman, but opt for the dynamic flex..

Discount code fivemore for 5% additional off - bringing this down to $437 - a respectable price!

    • Code fivemore does not work at checkout, is it still working for you?

      • Got an email about the code when leaving the shoes in my cart for an hour or so. Maybe it's targeted?

Do the same, and then hope you get the same email?

        • Code fivemore sounds like a generic code

I’ve left my details on their website and let’s hope for a code to come into my email

          • @BargainsGrabber: Generic, but possible that it only works if your account meets the criteria i.e you have left an item in your cart for x hours.

            Email received: https://i.ibb.co/k9WW0n5/image.png

Noticed in the email it's in caps. FIVEMORE.

            Have you tried caps?

            • @mahdoo: I did try in caps, all small letters, and capitalising the F

              Still doesn’t work

    • Cheers. Got it in my cart now, just gonna wait for the e-mail!

    • Emailed Oz Australia myself and they said it was a technical error, meaning that the 5% discount was never meant to happen

GG to those who managed to snag it!

  • are they actually high quality? also as an adventurous type will they last in the bush and what model has the best grip?

    • +1

they make versions with a lugged sole now (eg. urban turnout). those styles would have the best grip.

this is probably the best model for grip and doing actual work in (uses good quality work-boot leather):

      https://www.rmwilliams.com.au/footwear/men/chelsea-boots/gar…

quality is not bad. they are quickly mass produced in a factory by factory workers and finishing is a bit rough and crude for dress boots. RM Williams is really a work boot company that makes entry-level quality dress boots.

  • I think the Dynamic Flex Craftsman has the best grip due to the combination leather/rubber sole.Again though be particular about your fitting…..e.g.I normally wear a U.K./Aus shoe size 8 (U.S.9) but my R.M.'s are size 7H (the Wide fitting).Go figure as they say..
