Genuine Zippo Lighter Fluid 125ml $6.50 (In-Store) @ Smokemart

101

I just bought a new zippo lighter and need some fluid to get it kicking.

All I can find elsewhere(ebay, amazon, etc) are over $10, mostly over $15. Then I passed a smokemart today and thought might as well give it a go and boom, $6.50, which seems to be their regular price, surprisingly much cheaper than those online prices. Currently OOS on their website but if ask in-store, staff will get you some from the box.

Well, well.

Or unleaded, which is basically what shellite is.

Pilots used to fill them from the little water bowl below the wings of cessna planes.

u mean petrol? nahh that burns too quick and different, it also ignitesd the leaked stuff, and smells horrible. i used petrol it does not perform or smell or burn the same as zippo fluid, im yet to try the shellite stuff

    • Wtf, thanks for the life hack bro.

    • Thanks for the lifehack! Just bought 1L from Bunnings, gonna last a fair bit!

    • Uh, lesson learned. This is my first lighter and as a thingy to play with.

It seems hard to pour tho. With a syringe I assume?

      • I just pour it in like normal, not too difficult, just go slow. You got plenty of it so no need to worry if you spill a bit.

If you don't want to worry about filling it all the time then you might like to get the butane insert: https://www.amazon.com.au/Zippo-Lighter-Inserts/dp/B07XVZDX2… it's not the best quality though, sometimes you fill it and it doesn't ignite, you need to purge it with something pointy to get it going again. I use this insert to light my cigars, it is good for that purpose and does not spoil the taste.

        • Hats off to the cigar master.

        • all the reviews are saying it does not work, why would zippo make this if %75 reviews are saying its shite

          • @striker5950: profit? I can't think of any other reason for any business to do anything.

    • Are you serious what you are saying this truly replaces Zippo fluid?

        Yes

zippo lighters are very basic - how can unleaded or shellite not work? It's just a fuel soaked wick and a flint. These types of lighters were made in the trenches by soldiers in WW1 - no zippo lighter fluid in those days.

  • Beat be to it nubzy. Shellite is about $10 for a litre.

Perfect for my Jimi Hendrix impression….

  • Your local tobacconist everyday price is $5 or $6 max.
