Split Reverse Aircon Blows Cold Air Intermittently

hi

We have two Split Aircons 1) Panasonic ~3.5kw 2) Mitsubishi Heavy ~2.3kw in different areas of house.

With temp setting to 23C in Winters - the panasonic one will blow hot/warm air till say it reaches 18-19 and then will blow cold air intermittently for sometime and then turn back to hot/warm and then keeps on alternating cold / hot air. Cold air is fairly cold and the fan doesnt slows down. We struggle to use it much bcoz of blowing cold air !

With the Mitsubishi Heavy, after it achieves the set temperature of say 22/23C the fan slows down but still warm air keeps on coming though at a very low speed and aircon doesnt seem to be working hard.

Is it something wrong with Panasonic or there is a work around it.

regards

    Is the filter clean?

This. My Panasonic reverse cycle did the same thing. Turned out just to be dirty filters. Doh. Easy to clean. Never experienced it again since.

yes they are - i got it cleaned with aircon guys

yeah need to set it to just cold/ or hot.

when on auto mode it does this. really bad programing.

Mine does this every now and then in heat mode.

      Its set to heat !

  • Are either or both inverter aircons?

Non-inverters might have this characteristic of blowing cold air.

I need to check this - may be it is the reason ! Panasonic one is certainly bit older than Mitsubishi one

With my ducted inverter Daikin, there is value in the advanced settings to disable the fan when the compressor pauses for a break. This stops that cold air blowing.

YMMV with your Panasonic split, model dependent. I'm probably taking some risks with this setting.

  • With temp setting to 23C in Winters

    Keep it at 20 degrees…

    • Yeah you pay a lot extra to add those few extra degrees.

I dunno, I set mine to 18C. Seems warm enough to me, but I'm not walking around nude like I'm trying to make the climate like equatorial guinea.

actually acording to health professionals its bad for your health if its too cold

        • Lol. Put on a jumper. You don't need it warm enough to wear speedos.

    • i am with you at 20 degrees celcius.

Don't use Auto mode. Set it to heat mode.

  • Does it really blow 'cold' air, or just recirculates room air which will feel cold due to wind chill?
    Get a thermometer onto it.

It's simply blowing out the last of the hot (warm?) air after reaching temperature. It feels cold but it's only cooler.

    MOO

  • I was informed a few years ago that your ambient temperature is what your settings go to so if your ambient temp is higher than your settings it will go into rest mode until the ambient temp drops to your setting or lower then kicks back in and blows warm air again, it is while in rest mode this cool air is expelled.
