I get my ducted gas heating system serviced every year, mainly because it's a requirement to retain the warranty.
Costs me about $110 each time.
Every 2 years for my brivis. Clean the return air filter yourself every month.
If you're not getting it serviced regularly at least make sure you have a carbon monoxide detector.
where did you get that idea from? Ducted heating doesn't work the same way as open flue heater, unless you get to put the whole unit inside your living room. You have better chance of CO poisoning from the cooktop than a ducted heater.
The heat exchangers can and do fail, when that happens the combustion gases get blown inside. Technician can check for CO at service.

Thanks for the replies. Most of my friends don't get theirs serviced so often.
It'll cost me around $350 to get it serviced annually.
