eBay Plus Membership - Didn't Know I Had It

I use eBay fairly regularly and for the first time ever I received a message from eBay mentioning my eBayPlus membership.

I tried signing up 2 years ago and didn't think the subscription went through as I didn't receive a confirmation email, and it wasn't processed immediately from my PayPal account. I didn't pursue it because I decided to subscribe to Catch Club (which I unsubscribed from just recently). Basically, I have been an eBayPlus member for 2 years without receiving any correspondence from them. I must have missed the subscription renewal also. WTF?

Do others get emails and messages about it? There is nothing on eBay's pages to indicate I have special options.

    I'd get Plus email every month "Name, Your eBay Plus member savings" but it's possible you got so many emails you didn't notice these, or your email preferences were set to not send them.

    You don't get charged for your first 30 days, but if you continue beyond that, you do get charged. You must have missed at least two payments being taken.

    You have to cancel your membership, or it will keep renewing. The easiest way to tell is by logging into eBay and checking from there.

    Yeah their ebay plus membership is a bit screwy; as is their removal of it.

    I was bad customer on one account and they banned me from ebay plus as a customer as I bought a couple of gift cards during the plus mania month a few years ago. They refunded the yearly fee I paid and told me I could never be an ebay plus member and that I was a bad boy and to wear a dunce hat in the corner..

    Fortunately for me and unfortunately for them, they stuffed up the "banning". I appear to not have a subscription; if I got to: https://www.ebay.com.au/ebayplus/home it says join or start a free trial, but I get all the plus benefits (free express shipping, ebay tuesday deals and the regular extra % off during the plus coupon deals etc) which is fantastic. Saves me the yearly fee and still get the benefits (presumably forever or until they figure it out).

    Check if you are being charged; if you aren't you are like me and in limbo land. Presumably eventually they'll figure it out; but I am not fussed obviously; quite a happy camper being banned from it.

        eBay subsidised postage costs for people selling in the early days without proper checks in plce and took a few $million dollar hit in the first few months of May through August in 201x (whatever year it launched to compete with Amazon).

        You could buy a wish card for example $20 gift card for $15 and then adding $10 postage to it, meaning eBay paid $10 and me the customer only had to fork out $15 to buy $20 gift cards (physical).

        Sellers would buy the cards at face value, sell them cheaper, but pocket coin as the postage costs for each card were like $10 ea or whatever. I bought a few (read that as lots) of them and they banned me from eBay plus saying I was a bad customer and should have known better.

        They never properly cancelled the eBay plus membership though; suspect it was a manual process and it was early days, so they didnt quite get it right.

        I sat in the corner with my dunce hat on for a while (couldnt use ebay as a customer) but they then let me start buying again; with eBay plus membership still there. I'm not sure why after 4+ years or whatever they havent cancelled the membership benefits. It says I am not an ebay plus customer etc; but I am.

    I managed to get a refund on the day of renewal by talking with customer support. Not only that they didn't reverse my eBay plus year membership even though they said they would, so effectively I got a free eBay plus membership.

    they give you $5 off a month by email. they didnt give me mine for half a year so they gave me a code for that entire period

    I signed up for it, i think for a really cheap amount for the first year, but I didn't use it much.

    Then they charged me the normal rate for the renewal. I noticed this and pretty much right away said can I cancel that even though you have already taken out the money.

    They were kind enough to refund me if I remember correctly…

    I say 'if I remember correctly', because since then I am still enjoying the ebay plus deals and shipping and so on.

    Perhaps they refunded, but forgot, or chose not to, cancel the membership…??

    At any rate this new year of having ebayplus has actually proved worth it unlike the other year, as I have gotten a few good deals.

    Yes that's exactly why i pay with visa cards only, which you can cancel anytime, and dont have to worry about someone overcharging you.

    Or even better use something like
    Discounted Coles Mastercard Giftcards
    or
    Discounted Only1Visa Gift card From Woolworths
