Thank you Professor
Just a word of warning - the bundled charger is seriously slow, verging on useless.
Get a Liitokala and don't look back.
Got one :)
But out of curiosity what speed is the current charger in there?
200mA would charge them overnight just fine.
Though; the slower you charge NiMh or NiCd, the worse the recharge efficiency. Down to below 50% if C/10
Edit: Claims 4xAA's in 10 hours; so 5 hours for AAA's.
I mean, I agree its slow; but considering most people DONT follow battery etiquette and monitor the charging cycle, or use a battsafe box? An overnight charge at 150mAh is at least safe for people.
Id wager the size of the batteries metal casing could dissipate 150mA of current as heat without melting, if the cell froze.
That thing charges batteries in pair, it's a dumb charger with timer.
What do you mean by timer?
@Jklaro: The charger will keep putting power into the battery until a internal timer runs down to 0 on the charger. The timer will be set to roughly to the time it requires to charge a battery from 0->100%, generally this is the worst type of charger available.
EDIT: Some other ways of charging involve checking the voltage on the battery to see if it is almost fully charged so it stops when it is full and you don't over charge it. Another way is to measure temperature of the battery as it charges.
What is Liitokala?
What benefits would it be to get liitokala over this other then time to charge because if I was using this for xbox controllers I wouldn't need them to charge fast.
the one on aliexpress can charge heaps more type of batteries with different sizes, able to test battery among other things and most importantly can tell if the battery is full or not to stop pumping power into the battery. This dumb one keep dumping power into the battery for set time regardless the battery will take it or not.
What issues can arise from pumping more power into the batteries? On the packaging it states that after 10 years batteries will still hold 80%
@Jklaro: In short - it damages the battery reducing its effective working life……..your 2 posts tell me you need to google the subject - not having a shot at you by the way, "after 10 years batteries will still hold 80%" should include "undamaged"
In short. The charger in the pack can shorten the service life of the batteries. Some searching on this site will uncover extensive discussions on the topic.
If you after one of the better chargers on the market look at the Maha Powerex CH-9000. Not cheap but worth it if you plan to invest in rechargeables.

The people worried about using a ‘dumb charger’ really need some more excitement in their lives.
New-ish parent here. I've read previous posts that kid toys uses a lot of batteries. So far the activity table we bought hasn't needed a battery change and it has almost been a year. Could someone tell me what sort of toys would chew up battery power quickly? Gotta plan for the future!
Hey, without alerting any of the battery police lurking above, you may have overlooked a key factor. The amount of toys you will accumulate that require batteries :-)
Being the 'Fun Uncle' I am aware of such things…
The toys that just light up or play a basic tune will last a while, eg your 'Activity Table'
But once things start moving around or controlled to move around, that's where the battery chewing comes in.
Gaming controllers, decorative wall lights, torches (at some stage, kids LOVE torches), laser tag (getting popular again as outdoor play is encouraged); they add up.
