IP to Coax Adapter - CCTV Upgrade to IP Camera

Would like to upgrade existing Analogue CCTV Camera to IP Camera but still keep the Coax.

My first preference would be to use IP to Coax adapter. However I was advised by a CCTV installer that connections via IP to Coax Adapters were not stable and received complaints feed was lost frequently and required system resets / reboots

Any comments or feedback on the stability of the feed via IP to Coax adapters is greatly appreciated.

Instead, I was Quoted $2000 including labour to upgrade to 6 HDCVI camera's and 3TB DVR

Upgrade the cable! 2k seems a fair going price.

    • I was told replacing the coax cable was not possible because its a two story house with full slab. Current picture quality of the analogue system is horrible at night.

I would have been more than happy if the quote for $2000 was to upgrade the cable, camera's and DVR

      • Why do they say they can’t they use the coax as a draw string to pull new cat 5?

        • I believe the coax cables was installed without a conduits and lots of bends.

Any suggestions. I would love to replace the cables

  • I think if you buy those generic ebay cat5 to coax adapters you'll be disappointed. If you buy quality MoCA adapters you'll likely get decent results but the costs may be higher than just running new cable.
