I went to buy it at $79, then when I opened my confirmation order email I noticed I would be charged on a base of $99. Then I went to look at the listing again and it was still $79, started to write a complain email to amazon about the pricing error, then I refreshed the listing again => $99.

For people who preordered the PS5 version at $79 have a close look at your confirmation email to see what you will be charged

      • Order Total Including GST: $79.00

      • Definitely $79. https://i.imgur.com/HMRaNks.png

Amazon has pre-order price guarentee and they charge nothing till dispatch so price should change for you else you can cancel anytime. I'm sure it'll come back down again.

        • -1

When I put it in my cart it was $74 ($5 random code) and when I paid it went up … My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined

    • +1

You are right bubbleshark, it went back to $99

      • Lucky for some then. :)

Here I am, one and sole reason I created my OzBargain account, and I want to say I'm more than ready to slay my Mongolian brothers once again. I wish Suckerpunch could translate Mongol soldier's conversation, so everyone else can experience those hilarious conversation in Mongolian, haha.

      Doshooooo

        Unuuhiig chine harlaa!
        Aa muu samurai !

    • Great, you've now given Sony the idea to create a Mongolian special edition and the commenters above us will go ballistic again.

Seriously though, I loved the game (one of my only games I managed platinum for) and did wonder what they were saying

      • Yes, very pretty game with barebones gameplay great to kick back and relax while not paying much attention to. I loved it too, spent a lot of nights listening to podcasts/youtube interviews while playing this one. Can highly recommend if you enjoy Assasin's Creed games.

  • +1

This seems like normal.pricing, don't see the bargain, $79.95 and $99 is typical release price.

    • +1

See the bargain is on personal level. This doesn't fit yours?

      • +1

        Yes, aren't they all?

    • +1

Go look at EBs pricing, this is a discount on RRP.

      • Anybody that pays the price EB slap on their games at this price has more $ than brains, and should hand in their card, I stand by these games being at normal price.

By that logic it's worth listing any game for sale that sells less than what EB have it advertised for? The site would be flooded with game posts.

Appreciate the share, but I don't see the bargain on this one.

        • The principle is being the lowest price available for the specific item, usually below RRP. Not an individuals subjective value.

So $79/$99 is not "normal pricing" because that would be the $115/125 RRP, regardless of that being an excessive price for this new generation.

          • @Hybroid: Although $114.95 is the price listed at EB Games, this doesn't make it the RRP, most other retailer sells games on day 1 for $79/$99 and this is the normal price we expect to pay, EB are always listing games more expensive than others, and sometimes profit more of people who don't ask for a price match. Look at the Amazon listing and the JB listing, it doesn't say $99 save $15.95, thats because it's their normal price.

If people listed everything on this site that was advertised below the manufacturers RRP we would be scrolling through trash all day.

            • @eggaz: $125 is the RRP for SIE games this generation. That's the definitive 'normal' price, no matter how much we dislike it.

EBGames generally charges full RRP price while others like JB Hi-Fi/Amazon are more competitive and can afford lower margins.

It's not about listing everything that's below RRP, it's about listing the lowest price available. Which this is.

              • +1

@Hybroid: My point is that given Amazon, JB Hifi, Big W always sell games for $99/$79 it is the normal price we expect to pay, EB Games is the outlier here.
I go back to my earlier comment I could post just about every game on every console and reference back to it being cheaper than EB Games and the same lower price at 3 other retailers.

                • @eggaz: If it's the lowest price available then absolutely, yes, please do post them.

  • -2

Shame there's no discount path to upgrading for those who already own the game. I own the game but would like to play the expansion on PS5 but I'm not paying full price and replaying the entire thing again. Might wait until it's a PS+ game or for sale for $20.

    • +4

I believe there is an upgrade path mate:

      That's from:

      https://blog.playstation.com/2021/07/01/ghost-of-tsushima-di…

      Transferring your progress:

If you already own Ghost of Tsushima on PS4, you’ll be able to transfer your save to PS5 to pick up where you left off. For new players, the new Iki Island content will be available beginning in Act 2 of Ghost of Tsushima, after you’ve made your way to the Toyotama region.

If you already own Ghost of Tsushima on PS4:

You can pre-order an upgrade to Director’s Cut on PS4 for $19.99 USD. This upgrade will become available starting on August 20.

Edit: After inserting the disc on my ps4 the upgrade pre-order option has popped up. $29.99

      • -2

Yeah but it's an upgrade to the PS4 directors cut not the PS5 directors cut. Hence my annoyance.

It's great I can take my save with me but I don't want to pay full price for the PS5 version.

        • +1

There is an upgrade from the PS4 to PS5 directors cut version: $30 USD.

          Google is good

          • +1

@bloopzorm9: that still sounds like a ripoff though

          • -1

@bloopzorm9: If there is, it isnt on the PS Store with the PS4 upgrade.

And still $10 more than the PS4 version to do the same thing.

            • @SirFlibbled: If you'd bothered to just google it instead of downvoting me and writing your comment you'd see that it will be available, and that it's not the same thing as the PS4 version.

If it's not for you, don't buy it. No one is forcing you.

  • That's awesome! Thanks OP! I'm a big fan of GoT, will wait for the upgrade to become available via PS Store. Cheers!

  • +3

Personally best thing to come from this directors cut is we are finally getting Japanese lip sync!!!
No more bad reverse dub. Which made no sense to my brain as they were Japanese, speaking Japanese, with English mouth sync..

  • Wait I'm sorry… How is this a bargain? JB has it the same price. Incidentally; it's a higher price than the game launched at originally, too.

    • Well some of us got it for $79 so I guess without this post some of us might not have managed to do so

      • +2

Sure, $79 is edging closer to what I'd consider a bargain for this package but the$99 price is confusing me. I don't know why people are so desperate to send Sony the message they will happily pay this much for a repackaging of a recent game with some updates and expansion. 🤷‍♂️

  • So I already own this game on PS4.

Is there any difference between the PS5 & PS4 versions of the Directors Cut?

If I decide to just get the upgrade deal for already owning the game on PS4, will playing the game on my PS5 be the same as if I was to just buy the directors cut on PS5 for $99 and the only difference would be that I would get a PS5 disc and case?

      PS5 exclusive features

While Director’s Cut players on both PS4 and PS5 will be able to experience the Iki Island content, PlayStation 5 players will have access to a few additional new features.

We’ve heard your feedback about the lack of Japanese lip sync in the original version of Ghost of Tsushima, and it’s something we worked hard to address in this new release. Thanks to the PS5’s ability to render cinematics in real time, cutscenes in Ghost of Tsushima and on Iki Island on PS5 will now offer lip sync for Japanese voice over.

We’re also happy to confirm that Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, and the new Iki Island expansion will all take advantage of haptic feedback and adaptive triggers in the Director’s Cut. There will also be enhancements to 3D audio on PS5, as well as drastically improved load times, 4K resolution options and framerates targeting 60 FPS.

      • Thanks for that
I was lost with all the comments and versions

So no free upgrade for owning it already but a discount for the DC PS4 version.

Hmm I might just get the PS5 version as I thought it was a fantastic game

Just wish the PS5 version was cheaper then the $99 price tag

        • Shame you missed the $79 overnight :(

        • Not a free upgrade but the PS4 version can upgrade to the DC and then you can upgrade the DC to the PS5 version, no need to go out and buy the PS5 version anew. PS5 upgrade just adds the Japanese lip sync, 3d audio and haptic triggers. Increased resolution & framerate have already been delivered as a free patch for playing PS4 version on PS5. I'd personally just buy the DC content for PS4 version and not pay for the "ps5 upgrade" when playing it on PS5.

      • +1

Drastically improved load time? The load times on PS4 were already very fast. And I had the original fat PS4.

        • Yep. Maybe they are basically non-existent now?

  • +3

Just finished the original, was really a piece of art. One of the few games where I found myself pausing at several points just to take in the scenery.
Was about to sell it till I saw this, may wait for the dlc upgrade.

  • -2

Beautiful game with likely the best graphics of the previous gen consoles. The gameplay is mostly good. The game itself is meh and becomes super repetitive after the 1st act. The open world is a typical open world with lots of 'go here, do generic climbing there, kill all the baddies here' type gameplay. Story is pretty bleh as well.

    I'd give it an 8/10

    Wait for a sale.

    • -1

Didn't down vote you but for a game that you give 8/10, the comment doesn't seem to match the score well hahaha.

  • Just bought this for $20… how do i justify paying an extra $30 for the ps5 update?

    • +1

I don’t think you should-unless you think it’s worth $30. I’d rather spend $30 on food or something. Doesn’t seem worth it

  • While I get the benefit of PS5's SSD advantage requires slight coding change (hence the need to release a PS5 version, instead of via back compat. with a quick framerate patch), Sony needs to enable that m.2/NVMe slot in PS5s soon. There is no point showing that PS5 can improve gaming experience on older titles re-adjusted to support PS5's fast storage if every such title comes with an expansion pack. You want to force me to put those games on the SSD, you really have to offer more than just a small expansion.

Underestimating Microsoft and Bethesda is unwise. Let's face it, some of Sony's exclusives this year will be from Bethesda (through agreements prior to Microsoft purchasing Bethesda). Windows 11 will have GamePass integrated.

Spend more time on true PS5 games and enable that m.2 slot a.s.a.p.

    • While it would be nice to upgrade the internal storage (the 825Gb drive or 667Gb-ish of usable space is grossly inadequate when I compare it to the 2Tb drives in my PS3 and PS4 Pro), it is manageable with a 4Tb external HDD. It's not ideal to move games back and forth (it's a lil slow), but is/will be a lot cheaper than expanding/buying additional internal storage.

    • +2

for real. theres not even anything i'd call a single next-gen game on ps5 yet, but i can barely fit anything on my god damn ps5…. then i turn my ps4 pro back on with its 2TB SSHD, and its got like 500 games ready to go…

      • +1

sonys external hard drive system is awful compared to microsoft still. no excuse for it. its just bloody awful.

      • Aside from Ratchet and Clank I can’t think of any other PS5 only exclusive.

If it’s got a PS4 version, I’d much rather own the PS4 version as well as the PS5 version.

    • Problem is that the PS5 nvme is so advanced that up until now, no SSD has been fast enough to match it.

The PlayStation 5's new solid state drive isn't your run of the mill PCIe 4.0 SSD. It's heavily customized on a number of levels, including its revamped 12-channel memory controller.

While on the surface it has similar specs to a PC-level SSD like PCIe 4.0 interface with 4x lanes on an M.2 card using the NVMe protocol, it's been built from the ground up specifically for the system's custom 7nm AMD SoC and 16GB of GDDR6 system memory.

In many ways, the SSD is the most important part of the PlayStation 5.

Now, finally, there's an SSD - the Seagate Firecuda 530 - which is likely fast enough to be compatible with the PS5.

Only downside though is that a 2TB stick of the Firecuda 530 will retail for $718.81 AUD ($490 USD launch price converted to AUD + 10% GST).

So basically the same price as the PS5 console itself.

      Ouch.

    • I doubt the increased loading times needed any coding changes, the game already loads extremely fast on PS4 so I think it's just directly benefitting from faster storage/cpu in the PS5 without any changes needed.

  • Another remastered…..I better save my money to buy Demon Slayer and will pickup GoT remastered in the bargain bins later.

  • Realised this morning that I left my PS4 copy in my console when I traded it in…. GFDI
Nearly choked when I saw it was $125 to buy digital…

  • Lot of comments here are really weird; 1st post and its replies are hidden. Then there’s talk of “M$” and "console warriors", whatever that is. Oh and something about apple products having deals, which they don’t really do unless it’s actual retailers

    • Yeah, I don't understand a lot of the posts here. Sure, you're frustrated you paid full price for the game, but no-one is twisting your arm into buying this. If you want to be among the first to play a game, you pay the premium. If you don't mind waiting a few months (or year) it'll no doubt be cheaper then. If you don't want to pay for DLC or expansions, simple answer is… don't.

I don't know why some users feel the need to whinge and put others down just because they don't like something about the deal.

Just move onto another deal on OzBargain,

That being said, the upgrade option sucks slightly. It's not totally clear if they mean disc or digital (or both) when they say you can pay to upgrade the original release to the Director's Cut for $29.95 ($20USD), then insert the disc on the PS5, pay $14.95 ($10USD) to upgrade to the PS5 Director's Cut version. Essentially, I want complete versions for the PS4 and PS5.

And, for those complaining about the upgrade costs, well, Activision charged $15 for a PS5 upgrade for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.

For me, I loved the game on the PS4. It may be samey after a while, but it's such a beautiful game. I can't wait to see how much better it looks and plays on the PS5, as well as enjoying the new content.

  • If I've got a PS5 and a PS4 copy of the original Ghost, what's my best bet? Sell current copy and buy PS5 Directors cut or just simply purchase an upgrade?

    • Depends what you want.

If you just want to play the upgrade and expansion then purchase the PS4 -> PS5 DC upgrade.

If you want the PS5 DC version for physical collection then buy that.

If you're not overly keen for it now, you can always wait for a sale/discount later on.

Current PS4 version goes for ~$25 EB Games trade-in or ~$40'ish second hand market.

      • Nah not really after a collection, only curious for new content, guess i'll just get the ps5 dc upgrade. Cheers!

    • The PS4 version can upgrade to the DC and then you can upgrade the DC to the PS5 version, no need to go out and buy the PS5 version anew.

  • +1

Top 3 games of the last 5 years. Easy.

    DLC itself is $30, but i can't believe they're charging an extra $10-15 for a ps5 version upgrade patch…

a flat $99+ for it on ps5, vs $79 on ps4 when its a year old is a bit rich…. especially considering it'll work out cheaper to buy the ps4 version and pay the ps5 upgrade cost separate.

the ps4 version on ps5 already features 4K60, so this ps5 version only provides a minimal of things, like haptics and faster ssd loads, but most devs with a brain are offering this kinda generational update free… because why segregate and rip your fanbase off? not to mention what a kick it is to people who purchased the deluxe version in the first place, as it contains all those extras, AND you're forced to pay for DLC and a new ps5 version.

a flat $80 ps4 & ps5 would be nice. in either case, great game and i hope the free online updates are solid, but honestly if you haven't played it already, i'd just wait 2-3months and it'll be 50% off as it should be as well.

    • The PS5 version was $79 on Amazon for a couple of hours.

      • yeh like im sure there'll be deals etc. my point being tho, stop faffing around segregating things. one game, one price.

    • There is one simple reason why there is a PS4 & PS5 price difference and I'm not saying I agree with it only stating an explanation. Is that Sony now have upped the RRP for PS5 games therefore they feel that it has to be more moneywise otherwise people would just buy the PS4 version at a cheaper price with all same content and get the free upgrade if it was possible. This way unfair to some as it may be charging extra for the upgrade to PS5, it equals the new RRP of PS5 titles when the two versions compared financially with all content.

      • +1

It's also due to the fact that the RRP of games hasn't increased for a couple of generations now. There aren't too many things that go a decade or so without a price increase, especially when the cost of making these big AAA games keeps increasing.

I don't really understand the complaints, though. This is OzBargain - who the hell is buying anything at RRP in the first place? Wait for a sale, it'll eventually end up at the same price we've all been paying for PS4 games on sale.

  • +1

Am I the only one who kind of wants to order the PS5 version for the new cover? 😂

    • Nope, I'm the same. Keen on repurchasing FF7 Remake Intergrade for the same reason.
