      You are right BuskerMove! Type 2 is the new Standard for new EVs in Australia. But overseas it's not as organised unfortunately. If only the US went the same way…..

      It pretty much is for new cars, these items are for compatibility for older or imported EVs, or stations that were installed a long time ago.

      [Edit: Also sometimes people want extra/replacement portable chargers, etc]

    I have a Mitsi PHEV 2014 - Not a single public charger for the Type 1 J1772 in the state. Seems like Type 2 are the norm now, so I'm going to have to buy a converter (and hope someone doesn't steal it…which will happen as these are way over priced items).

    What converter do I need to charge the PHEV from a Type 2?

      There are J1772 chargers listed on PlugShare in VIC. Set the filter to your model.

      You may need Type 2 (Mennekes) to Type 1 (J1772) adapter.

        Cheers for your help. Most have been replaced with a Type 2. Sucks that you now need to buy your own cable, which can be easily stolen / damaged (especially when you are now getting double taxed, yet supported infrastructure is being removed). Looks like this mob don't sell a Type 2 to Type 1. They are selling Type 1 to Type 2 cheap as there will be no use for them soon. Cheers again.
