Hey everyone, looking for a decent hard drive or a SSD for cheap. I was considering WD 4tb hard drives since they're not too pricey but was still looking for any recommendations. Also Seagate or WD for HDDs?
Any help will be appreciated.

I've got 1.5tb already. Just need something to store a bunch of stuff which will last me a while
HDD if you're just storing stuff and not actually using it constantly.
I have a 550gb SSD that has the regular programs I use. Other stuff like music, movies, games, other software is installed in my HDD.
If this is long term storage or a backup, look at shucking the really big drives for some bang for buck free space maybe?
Does the SMR/PMR thing matter for your use case, No RAID/Zx arrays or heavy writes?
Chia has made everything larger more expensive at the moment so no idea where the $$$/GB sweet spot is any more - but shucking should still be a decent price saving vs a bare drive, possibly letting you go up a size or so for the same money, like perhaps get a 6TB for the price of a 4TB, or save money on the 4TB. There is potentially the 3.3v pin thing if you go WD (does that impact Seagate too?), mine are in a hot swap backplane so didn't run into it. I'm only looking at 8TB or larger so not sure how the 2-6TB drives go these days.
do you need 4TB? otherwise you can get a cheap SSD like BX500 1TB or so
