I bought a deal for a certain service and when I went to use it found I had left the voucher at home. I was prepared to go home and fetch it (which would have been inconvenient for everyone at the time) but they said to just pay the full amount and then send in the voucher and they would do a refund. The manager was there at the time and seemed decent and believable enough. Also, I was happy with the service
Fast forward 2 months and of course I haven't been refunded. I have spoken to this manager at least five times (he is difficult to get hold of) and written a nice email and each time he apologises and says he is very busy and will get onto it.
I have lost patience - do I have any recourse given that I was the one that forgot the voucher in the first place????
Deal issue - should I get a refund?

at the most inconvienient of times as well
And take another copy of your voucher with you.
In hindsight it might have been better to find an internet kiosk nearby and print out a replacement, or if you can access the net on your phone, get the voucher number that way.
You would have to deal with the manager straight, as at this point you have redeemed the service and the group buy company will not honour any responsibility. Yes rock up the shop and sort it out immediately!
as at this point you have redeemed the service
Technically, no he hasn't, as he has paid full price for the service.
Slow, I think you can fairly confidently assume that the business has logged your coupon as having been used with the deal company though, if you've provided them with the number. I hope for your sake that I'm wrong, or that they will at least see the error of their ways and give you your refund.
Thanks for the replies. Trouble is the place is quite far from where I live so a pain to get to (esp during office hours). Also, chances are the Manager probably won't be there if I just rock up.
Do you think I would have a case with Consumer Affairs?I'd be doing a chargeback with the bank and mailing the voucher into them (the vendor). I can guarantee you by now that the banks are getting pretty po'ed with these voucher/group buy companies!
I rang up to make a paypal claim once, the response? 'Paypal… done, refund is in your account in five days'.
That way they get the voucher as per the deal, they get their money and you get the money they tried to burn you on.
Yes you do have a case since you did not use your voucher, you paid for a full service which has nothing to do with the voucher until you are refunded. Either try and use it again or get the refund as you are entitled to..
You havent used the services of your voucher yet so your voucher should still be valid. And if they arent letting you use your valid voucher, you should be able to get a refund. You guys are looking at it the wrong way. The agreement "aka contract" is the promise to refund the $$ difference upon presentation of the voucher. The OP has emails confirming this arrangement and receipt of the voucher so simply a case of breach of contract. The issue here has nothing to do with whether or not the voucher was used.
I decided to try and call once more and try the being nice approach and lo and behold I got hold of the manager and he gave the refund. All's well that ends well.
I suggest go in person. That is the fastest way to get things done.
I am not sure what service you are in, but if you turn up and ask for the manager they will probably sort things out straight.
If not, occupy the location =)
