Monitor Recommendations: Dual Screens, or One Curved Widescreen?

Hi all, I'm looking to purchase a desktop Mac but I'm having some difficulty deciding on what to do about monitors. For some time now at work I've grown accustomed to having two monitors and found it very useful. However, some of the widescreen curved monitors I've seen look pretty cool as well. These choices are predicated on buying a new Mac Mini; an iMac could also be good, but then I'm wondering what monitor (if any) would go well alongside it.

I'd say I've got a budget of about $500 for the monitor/s if I'm going with the Mac Mini, or more like $300 if i'm just going to purchase one to supplement the iMac. I'm not fussed about having a display optimised for movies or games, it's more about having optimal space to multi-task two or three things at once. Keen to get people's thoughts or suggestions on this if anyone has something to offer. Cheers!

  • I think dual is better for work versus one wide screen but once you use a curved wide-screen, you won't ever want to go back to the standard ~24" monitors.

I've got a 2 x 34" xiaomi set up and it works great but you can definitely make do with just 1 screen. You'll probably just need to screen split a bit for efficiency to avoid tabbing between too many windows (i.e., win+left arrow for half of the screen, win+right for the other - excel + teams, browser + outlook etc. etc.)

  • One Curved Widescreen %100. On a budget LG has some nice budget IPS panels

  • I have a 34" ultrawide and a 27" widescreen next to it. I do 80% of my work on the ultrawide and occasionally pull stuff over to the 27 when I need extra. Can comfortably use two windows side by side on the 34.

  • I much prefer a single screen. It takes up less desk space, no bezels, you can watch videos/photos and use the whole thing, you can view large excel sheets easily, etc.

I have 2x24" FHD at work and a 43" 4k at home and I am much more productive on the single screen.

1080p tall screens just aren't enough anymore for desktop use IMO. You can barely view a full page in Word comfortably.

  • Strech the budget and get the 38 inch ultrawide from LG. I've had one for almost 5 years and it's brilliant.
