Curious as to how this compares against Edifier?

    • +1

There's no single Edifier model, but I posit, based on listening to AudioEngines for a few years, that these will wipe the floor with them (didn't have the problems that others have seen, below - so a gamble, it seems).

I know these are bluetooth speakres but my PC doenst have bluetooth.

Can I connect this via cable?

I will eventyally get a new PC.

      USB audio input
      Dual analogue audio inputs

      Literally in the OP.

      • USB audio input
      • Dual analogue audio inputs

You don't require Bludtooth to use the speakers, the satellite speaker is Bluetooth whereas there are analog inputs as well.

Owned Audioengine HD6, B1, 2+. All ended up dying within 4 years. Never buying this brand again. Crappy quality.

Currently using mine as amonitor stand.. dead inside cbf converting to passive speakers

I’ve had my A2s for nine years now and they’re still working perfectly. They’ve been through more house moves than most people do in a lifetime in that time as well.

Not trying to discount that you had problems with yours, but offering an alternative viewpoint from my experience for anyone interested in durability/quality questions.

I've got 2 sets of the A5+ (non-bluetooth), one set is 7 years old, the other 5. No issues whatsoever. Would buy again.

Also been using my 2+ for 7 years and had no issues. Sounds great for the size and look good on the desk.

Low end sucks, would not recommend.

Obviously not much to be expected from such a small speaker, but for the price - you would expect a half decent response in the low end which doesn't distort as the volume increases (within reasonable listening volume).

    • Yeah no low end, they are basically designed to be complemented with the subwoofer, which I bought and very pleased with. But its obviously a big increase in price.

Ah, see I have the S8 as well.
There is no lowpass on the S8 which is absolutely insane, and thus the A2 is still a waste.

I love the S8 though, absolute ripper.

Better off with JBL 104 for less money. Audioengine are over priced over hyped.

  • i have the presonus eris e3.5, dont know how it compares?

    • how do you find the presonus eris e3.5? i m tossing between the e3.5 BT and this a2+

I bought these last Christmas and can attest to the wounderfully clear audio they produce with both bluetooth and USB. For example I found that Pink Floyd and David Bowie FLAC recordings offer detail I missed on other desktop speakers.
Yes, they are a smaller speaker and yes they do not have the lower end range, but that is what you get with the convenient size. (Just under the height of a Samsung Note 10+)
As a recommendation I'd suggest that anyone who purchase these also buy the Audioengine DS1 Desktop Speaker Stands (No affiliation) as I did https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/audioengine-ds1-desktop-speaker… as they dramatically improve the staging when you're seated at a desk.

PS: I comfortably move between my Quad 22L's and the Audioengines primary due to the clarity and richness offered by both having silk dome tweeters.

Based on my experience with the AE a5’s, I would not touch another AE product in my lifetime. Google Audio Engine issues and do your own research.

  • +3

I have AE2+. Been using for about 14 months and its starting making crackling sound on low volume. Very annoying as I expected last longer for $300 speakers.

On other hand, Logitech Z2300 is just wont die after 9+ yrs.
