  • Are they good? How does this compare to Yamaha YAS-209?

  • +1

Worst functionality software wise I've ever witnessed

  • +2

I think they are selling cheap for a reason.

  • Reviews seem pretty bad.

  • It seems that software update fixed most of the problems, I got one. Thanks OP

  • +4

Most of the crap reviews for this either relate to the soundbar being weak on the low end, or the poor software. The subwoofer eliminates the weak bass issue, and this price point eliminates the issue of the mediocre software being the reason this previously sold at a premium.

This is an excellent deal if you're intending to use this as a dumb 2.1 soundbar, and probably the best value in that particular market.

Just a 2.0 speaker with Android TV and playing Netflix all sounds downmixes to stereo….hmmm
It may good for music somehow but pretty sure not prefect for movies even it comes with the subwoofer.
Maybe someone is aim for the Google assistant feature but most reviews on the internet said the reaction is a bit slow…..hmmm
Thinking to have it in the bedroom and mount on the wall with a clean setup but now comes with the subwoofer….hmm
    Very interesting.

  • I have 3 JBL links (the mini bookshelf speakers, not this kit) and they sound almost as good as my 3 Sonos Ones I have set up in another room. I also have a Yamaha YAS-108 for the tv and it is no where near as good as either the links or the sonos. Set up on google assistant for the links took about 10 mins and about 10-15 set up for the sonos using their app + Alexa. I have high standards for sound quality but I also want it to be affordable so that's where I'm coming from here.

  • I rather like the link bar and sub i have. I use it for the multiple hdmi inputs into the bar and have it integrated into my Google home speaker setup.

I find sound quality is great at this price

  • I took the bait in the last boxing day sale and i have to say,not bad for the price. JBL sound is amazing. Since this is 2.1c, it suffers the usual issues with some dialogues due to missing center channel. Other than that, sound quality is great, OS so far is great and snappy after the update. I prefer to use this over my TV OS.

An excellent buy for a JBL sound system with wireless subwoofer. Android TV is a bonus and here it also serves as a hub.

  • The built in chromecast is not working good as the one in my other tv..connectivity issues.
How do I do the software update?
At this price its not bad.

  • Looks like it has HDMI ARC support so it might be a decent dumb soundbar for my parents who use iOS (ie. Chromecast functionality is pointless to them)… previously had a Samsung HTIB setup but it's conked out so they've been using TV's inbuilt speakers. Any other feedback on whether this actually sounds clear/loud for watching Asian drama series?

    WORST BAR ever

I bought BAR from HV [$175] , returned OK under faulty since it hangs a lot and sound quality is bad as well.
Bought this sub [$100] from JBL itself and couldn't return since no fault in the product and had it for more than a month so couldn't return it.
It's still hanging around in my storage room, of no use since it pairs only with that stupid BAR.
Not happy with JBL customer service as well. Worst product, do not recommend.

Spent a little more and got Bose 500 Bar, super happy with the product, and paired with the new Google Home Chromecast.

Hey mate would you be interested in selling the Subwoofer? I have the soundbar and only after the Sub

      • +1

yeah, I don't mind getting rid of it but not sure if I would be violating the ozbargain rules if I say yes and provide my details.
        Anyone?

        • -5

Can you pair 2? I'll give you $5 more than what he's offering

  • Bought this at the last boxing day sale and I'd say it's pretty good for the price point. I'm still using a plasma TV and it works great with it. Makes my TV smart and has HDMI ARC so I only need to use 1 remote. You definitely need the sub with it though

  • I have one, bought as bundle form TGG for $349. Main points for buying was google home integration and multiple hdmi in port. I have an old tv with only 2 hdmi ports.

I can say that the sound is good especially with the sub. Goggle home integration is also very nice. Built in chromecast and android tv are quite good. However bar it self as a google assistant very disappointing. It’s very slow. I have another google mini in the same room and disabled the mic on the bar. So, I am happy.

can I use it as mini fridge?

  • +1

Only available in QLD and WA for click and collect. Otherwise it shows $29.98 for shipping in Victoria.

  • Recently bought my first soundbar. A TCL TS9030 3.1 with Dolby Atmos and Airplay 2 for $399. Well worth spending a bit extra for a quality bit of kit.

    • Are you saying you should have spent more? Or you're happy with it

      • +1

        I’m happy with it.

        • Good to hear! I'm probably going to buy one tomorrow - was looking for some reviews and came across your comment and got a bit worried!

          • @The Hobo: TCL are still offering $100 cash back and I think JB are also giving you a $100 voucher with this model

  • Tempted… This or JBL Bar 5.1 or Samsung/Sony around $600 mark?

  • Got one to replace my 7 year old LG SoundPlate. Hopefully there's some improvement in sound quality.

  • I'm watching Netflix on one now, hooked up to a 55" EKO QLED TV… Can't complain for the price

  • I've been eyeing this thing for ages… so LinkBar or the Hisense HS312?
    https://www.appliancecentral.com.au/hs312-hisense-3-1ch-soun…

  • Bought for 399 - no regrets. Software is pretty crap as everyone has already mentioned.

  • page not found?

    • It is still showing active for me. Offer is up until 17th July or while stocks last

      • Looks like the Link Bar is out of stock.
