Officeworks - Parker Managers Chair $59.00

310

This deal has been posted before, however it says its expired.

I went to my local officeworks yesterday at Guildford, and they had about 5 of these lying there for the low price of $59.00.

Checked online, and looks like its still available for some who have missed out.

If you think this is a dupe, please feel free to delete this post! Cheers!

    How ergonomic are they?

doesn't have proper lower back support. I bought one and returned it within 7 days.

The high back is good if you want to lean back and watch movies. i even tried watching tv with it and it was comfortable. However, when you need to type for a long time and sit up straight, it's not recommended because your body tends to sink to the back.

  • Good deal, got this a few weeks ago. Certainly a better value compared to other models of the same price. It is wider than usual and comfy. Don't expect too much lumbar support though.

  • Thanks just ordered two for the house. Both using years old student chairs with hard padding so this will be a big change for us! There are some other chairs in their current catalogue for a similar price which are physically smaller but don't really look bad in any way for the cost. This is better though I feel, definitely.

  • Look, if you sit for more than a few hours on this chair, spend a few more $$$ and get something decent. I tried this chair when the deal was posted last time and it's not comfortable at all.

I found the curved arms of these chairs highly uncomfortable not being flat and they just got in the way .. maybe I just have long gangaly arms though.

  • Never mind.

  • The curved arms would stop me buying it.

  • +2

Usual warning for Officeworks chairs - they have a poor track record when it comes to resiliency of the padding underneath the upholsery. May end up flat as a pancake after six months of use.

  • A high quality (more exy) chair may be worth the investment given the amount of time you'll end up sitting on it, think of it like buying a sleeping matress. Im guessing theres a reason this is so cheap.

        OUT OF STOCK!!

        • +6

          It's a difficult concept to grasp, I know…. however, some states/stores will have stock… yours clearly hasn't….
          Shouting will not change that

          OUT OF STOCK

          FUS RO DAH!

  • I'm sitting in one of these which I bought years ago … very comfy and has survived a battering from the kids.

I agree with 4ledemons comments up top, but otherwise a very good buy.

    • also sitting one i brought years and years ago.

not much padding, but better than most.

  • Spent $990 on an Aeron. DOH.

    • +6

Swap 2 for your Aeron? ;)

  • Great value at $59. Wide body and High back. No real lowerback support, but show me a chair for $59 that can do that!

  • had one of these didn't last long (few months), leaned back on it once and bent it, i only way 85kg not 120. Would rather spend cash on something better.

It worth to check Aldi's chair I think the price is around $35.

  • I still haven't got a call from OW saying to come pick the chair up (from last time) :(

    • +1

why dont you ring them??? god bless you.

    • have had the same thing happen to me, just go in and ask. my stuff was just in the back.

      • mine still hasnt arrived since last deal either. Have rang and been into the shop twice…

    • i haven't got my yet! went to the shop a few times, tried to call a couple of times, but waited more than 30 min each, hung up cos couldn't wait, as i was at work.

    • They tried telling me that since they were out of stock on the website that I missed out and they would have to refund my money, they then tried selling me non-existant floor stock. Then tried telling me they would get one in from another store…

Surprise surprise, they found stock from the QLD online warehouse with my name on it out the back…I swear Officeworks hires monkeys!

It's a good chair, after a week or so lacking a little bit of support in the back but for $59 it's pretty good.

  • Do your back a big favor:

. Before you choose your chair, test its lumbar (lower-back) support

I returned a similar chair to OW, mostly because its gas support cylindar failed, as did the $10 replacement I bought at OW for it…

THEN, I found a similar chair at IKEA… the difference was like chalk ^ cheese: Only the IKEA chair had -good- lumbar-support. YMMV.

PS It speaks well of OW that they took back their faulty chair (sans receipt, even). The OW chair was leather-covered, the IKEA vinyl-covered.

(IKEA chair was $5 less than my OW cost, but felt $1,000,000 better!)

Still the IKEA chair gives me & my back real pleasure, when sitting on it, like the OW chair couldn't do (It's lumbar-support was way to soft!). YMMV

  • Bought one of these and love it. Agree with comments about lower back support tho.

  • There were 3 more of these at the Fremantle store on Friday.

I bought this because of the last post on this on Ozbargain. Sitting on it right now - so comfy!! I would highly recommend this. I actually find fabric chairs a lot more comfortable than leather chairs. Many thanks to the last person who posted this!

  • I got one about 2 weeks ago - I like it…

    Very comfy and looks good.

  • I reckon you should spend an extra hundred on the Hummingbird York High Chair for $178. I've been using it, and it's so comfortable!

  • I got one a few days ago, and i must say there are a very comfortable chair. The only problem is it does not tilt back. Good bargain none-the-less

    • im certain you can. you need to adjust the round dial under your butt :P

  • Boughr one last week. sales consultant told me they had over 200 at their warehouse.

  • pull the lever out and it should tilt, push it in to lock..
if it the same as mine…

    • Your correct, i was being a retard. awesome!

  • Saw it today but no demo to try. The only concern is the seat deep enough because some cheap model is not.

    • Which store in Sydney?

  • http://m.officeworks.com.au/mt/www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Furniture/Chairs/Leather-and-Plush-Chairs/OWMAGNUMBK;jsessionid=(J2EE7737400)ID1404446952DB10898458132196435708End;saplb_*=(J2EE7737400)7737452

How do these compare? I'm getting one of them.

    • I'd go plush over fabric. The chair you displayed is much nicer than the managers chair. I've tried both.

  • I bought one the first time this deal came up.

    PROS: Soft, cheap, nice fabric

CONS: Horrible back support, HORRIBLE. You can only use this for watching movies/playing games. I have to sit on the edge of the seat if I need to actually surf the web.

Would I buy this again? Never, it's horribly uncomfortable after prolonged use - luckily I use it for Xbox a lot.

Be warned, and buy at own risk.

I tried one very similar from Office works, the cushion goes soft very quickly and you end up sitting on wood. Used a pillow for a while then gave it to one of my kids.
