  • Fantastic deal. This is why I love my 28 degrees card - $200 back :D

    • Care to share what you meant by 28 deg card? Thanks in advance.

      • +1

If you had obtained a 28 degrees credit card before a certain date, you could (and still can) claim using their price protection insurance. In essence, if the price of any (most) item you buy with the card goes down in price at any Australian retailer within a year, you can claim the difference back.

        • +1

Thanks synergy. Looks like I have missed the boat :'(

        • +1

2 years for coles credit card.

          • @Jklaro: Is that Account Cover Plus? Looking at the PDS, it states that it only covers price differences at the same retailer (can be a different location though). It is also limited to max $600/item, vs $1000/item with 28 degrees. On the other hand, it is still available for new customers…

  • Is RX-A2A a superseding model to this RXV6A?

    • +1

Yes it is. I believe it is fairly similar feature wise, with slightly better components. It also has double the warranty length (4 years vs 2 years).

That being said, it still has the buggy HDMI 2.1 chip and will need a hardware service to fix that.

      Edit differences:

5th anti-resonance foot offers further chassis support
IR in / out 3.5mm rear mounted inputs
      Upgraded Yamaha 'premium' remote control
10,000uF capacitors in the power supply vs the 8,200uF of the RX-V6A (giving greater reserves to handle dynamic audio swings)
4 year warranty (vs 2 years with the RX-V6A)
Beefier chassis (10.2kg vs 9.8kg) with a front panel that matches the Aventage series styling.

      • I'm being lazy here. Is the service fix out of pocket or borne by Yamaha?

        • Is there a certain version/build I should look out for to know this hardware fix is already done?

          • @Kammi: They won't be releasing a new revision with the fix already applied. You will have to request the repair specifically.

Is RX-A2A a superseding model to this RXV6A?

No, they are both part fo the 2020 Range, the A2A is a superior model to the V6A. The A2A supersedes the A880.

      Yamaha AV Receiver 2020:

      RX-A8 (11 channels) = successor of the RX-A3080
      RX-A6 (9 channels) = successor of the RX-A2080
      RX-A4 (7 channels) = successor of the RX-A1080
      RX-A2 (7 channels) = successor of the RX-A880
      RX-V6 (7 channels) = successor of the RX-V685
      RX-V4 (5 channels) = successor of the RX-V485

The A2A and V6A share the same firmware and most features.
Synergy has posted the upgrades the A2A has. It is the first of the AVENTAGE range to have the updated look and HDMI 2.1 ports. It can only be sold by AVENTAGE dealers, and as such it's not discounted anywhere near as much.

Is the A2A ($1600) worth more than the V6A ($1300), sure, and at normal RRP you could argue it is worth the $300 premium. Considering the V6A is normally below $1000, there is no way that the A2A is worth a $600 premium, let alone the $800+ premium from this deal.

      • A = AVENTAGE

        V = Value

they wont flat out say it but I mean its obvious.

Why is the A2 $1,600 but the V4/V6 so cheap comparatively?

  • HDMI 2.1

I'm gonna marry this to my PS5

  • Bought this on the last deal with Radio Parts. In fact, a better deal came out the day after purchase, and RP were happy to manually refund and let me buy at the better price (which was $796.80).

    • How do you find it?

  • Got one thanks.

  • Was 990 in April this year, this is a great deal during COVID
