The OP does say +shipping. At the end of the day it's still $4.60 for a HDMI cable. Not that bad…

      • -1

for a 1.3? 1.4 can be found off ebay for less delivered

        http://www.ebay.com/itm/3FT-HDMI-Cable-v-1-4-1080P-PS3-DVD-L…

        or same 1.3 http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-5M-HDMI-Cable-Wire-Gold-5FT-1080p-…

do some research please before you neg my comments

I have done research. Your comment was basically complaining that there was shipping, when it was already mentioned in the title. And all I said was it's "not that bad", a dollar or two difference isn't that much, especially given you're comparing eBay to a store.

        • -4

Exactly. Sry did not mean to neg you. Can I un-neg?

        • +4

“a dollar or two difference isn't that much” – Are you serious? Do you have any idea how many glue sticks you can get with $2!

  • Anyone know where I can get good quality v 1.4 cable. Happy to spend a bit on it, but not the $100's that monster charges.

    • All hdmi cables are basically the same. Get the cheapest you can find.

      • Lol the sad thing is I know that yet for some reason with this new telly I just felt like it deserved better.

slaps himself Thank you for showing me the true path videoman-san. I apologise for bringing disgrace to ozbargain community :D

        • Digital signal. It's either on or its off.

        • +2

This is not true. Common myth.

But for SHORT cable lengths it practically is true. Try running a cable a long distance and you very much do get artifacting with a poor quality cable.

Doing weird things can have the same result. I tried laptop hdmi -> dvi via adaptor -> dvi switchbox -> monitor and that failed with only 3-4m of cable. The result was a green speckling across the monitor.

Googling the problem you will find out that I'm correct.

Cheap is fine 99.9% of the time. But please don't spread 'digital is digital' as fact.

And for anyone that really does need a quality cable, try http://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/hdmi-cables/hdmi-cable.h… Bluejeans are expensive, but much cheaper and much better quality than other companies. They are also very honest about what they sell, which is rare in the industry.

Jamell cables, they post specials here all the time and are great value when not on sale http://www.jamellcables.com.au/

Ok, the OP may say + shipping, but it is still highly misleading to advertize something for a $1 and then charge $4 for shipping. In such a situation, I expect you put the whole amount in the OP. The OP did not include the total cost which is about +400% of the amount mentioned in the OP, tried to dupe us to this deal by not including the entire information. It made me look and made me waste my time. It is not the same where the actual stuff is $40 and then shipping is $5, in which case a title of '$40+shipping' is ok.

I am not interested in a HDMI cable for 5 bucks, but I am for $1.

    • +3

      Exactly what i thought

    • +1

How much do you think it would cost to ship a 5' cable? Nothing?

  • +1

Triple shielded 24K gold connector ultra-high speed 5ft HDMI cable is $4.99 with free shipping on same site. Appears some cables have free shipping some do not.

    • probably split testing to see which sells better free shipping or cheap item. His cost is the same its the way he presents it to the consumer that can make or lose a sale, and when dealing in volume a tendency to go one way or the other of a few percent can make a big difference.

    Buy more.
First one is +$US3.61 for shipping
Second one is +$US2.00 for shipping
Third one is +$US2.05 for shipping

    I gave up there

    I say bargain.

  • +3

not cheap when you include shipping (pretty misleading to exclude this from the beginning imo)

  • +4

ahhh… lots of smart cookies about tonight….

    a) The OP put '+ shipping' in the title….. He isn't a rep, he doesn't know whether costs are different to different parts of the country…. Shipping to his house may, or may not be the same as shipping to your house… he covered his bases by saying '+ shipping'

I expect you put the whole amount in the OP

I expect people who've never posted a deal to be less critical of those who have…..

    b) If people are going to neg and put up links to ebay…. at least put up links to the same product…. this is flat hdmi cable, not standard.
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-High-Speed-Flat-HDMI-M-M-Cable-/18…
would seem to be the cheapest on ebay….. and the store would appear to be affiliated to meritline, as much of their product photos are meritline watermarked

As has been mentioned in other postings…. Due to the wildly variable reliability of ebay and it's sellers, it's not particularly useful to use as a pricing benchmark.

    • +2

It was the shipping that was a dealbreaker for me. if you want bulk maybe you will save but for those who want ONE it is still lil high.

$4.60 for one cable delivered through site. (www.meritline.com)

Same exact cable from same company on ebay for - US $3.95 ( about 3.65 in aussie $$ )

      http://www.ebay.com/itm/6-High-Speed-Flat-HDMI-M-Male-Cable-…

So you can still get it near $1 off including shipping

  • +1 just to balance all the negs. Not a bad deal. Would be better if it were 1.4. I think most people are missing the fact that it's a FLAT cable. Flat cables aren't cheap and are handy for specific routing circumstances.

    Misleading to me too
