Got a 100w charger from prime day. It came with a cable.
I wondered what 'normal' USB C Cables can do for w rating. Do you need special cable to do 100w? What will an unspecified cable deliver?
Will I break/burn out a cable? Does the charger know what cable it is?

I see. The 100w cable is chunky, I'll say that.
60w is respectableIs there a way on a win10 pc, to check how much is coming into a PD port?
Also I got a few C to C cables on the last ebay $10 free thingy, any way to know what they are?
The short answer is you need buy cables that specifically state it supports 100w, 5a.

There are "smarts" in the cable, in the form of an e-marker chip.
Power supplies that supply more than 60W, or > 3A at any voltage level must query the identifer in the cable (if there is one) before it makes an offering of >3A.
In the case that the cable doesn't have a chip, or the chip says it's 3A-only, the power supply must limit itself to 3A maximum output to not melt the cable.
