I am not a panda ok?

I’m interested, but 15 pairs wouldn’t last very long because I don’t cut the fingernails I use to scratch my balls and (profanity)

Well I'll chime in early to say these are good underwear, I've been using them for 3 years and it's all I use now. I think they're getting a bit too pricey, especially for just trying out 1, but hopefully the 50% incentive helped some out before considering buying more in bulk.

I've tried the Kmart ones, pretty good for $8. Probably still prefer my stepone but Kmart ones are a lot better value outside of a discount.

My 2c if it helps anyone!

    • hopefully the 50% incentive helped some out before considering buying more in bulk

That seemed to be the exact purpose of the 50% incentive lol, knowing that the EOFY sale was coming up.

    Bamboo = viscose.

Seems very expensive to me for what amounts to synthetic undies.

Don't believe the marketing hype about bamboo as used to make textiles. Is not "natural", "chemical-free" or "eco-friendly ".

    https://timetosew.uk/debunking-bamboo-fabric/

    • +1

yeah but it breathes well and doesnt ride up which is significantly ahead of most other undies.

feel like Im not wearing undies at all.

      • +1

        To each their own.

Nothing beats traditional cotton boxers for breathability and comfort for my crown jewels.
However, I don't like the tight hugging versions of any undies, so to be fair, it's probably the style as much as the material that allows the breeze to flow freely for me.

Glad they work for you, but I wouldn't pay 15x markup for synthetics.

"Bamboo" socks I have are comfy but definitely don't wick or breathe as well as pure wool or cotton ones I wear. My feet are wetter and smellier at the end of a day after being in "bamboo", so they mostly sit at the back of the sock drawer.

        YMMV :-).

        • +4

I had more than a few occasions in summer wearing knit cotton boxers that left me not just with sweaty undies but completely soaked thru to my shorts too.

Wool is obviously very good for wicking, Bamboo is decent.

I'd wear trunks from other brands but every brand I tried ride up. Step one offering two lengths is what drew me in - the longer ones are better for me as they dont ride up. every pair of trunks from every other brand eventually turns into briefs for me with enough walking.

Got these a year ago in the black friday specials, haven't looked back. I got 15 pairs for roughly $170 @ the same time, I've been on the same 5 pairs since November last year.

I tried a tonne of different jocks (bonds, tradies, anko and everything between), wasted alot of money and had constant issues with rashing/ chafing (living in North West QLD it was a nightmare)- I spent a hell of alot of money..

Haven't had an issue with step one jocks, I'm glad I bit the bullet in what was a pretty hefty outlay in terms of dollars, but wish I had done it sooner.

it's not really worth it, they buy thousands of these things for a couple bucks a pop https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Custom-best-underwear… (you can see the last pic even has the step one logo) and sell them for 30 dollars a pair RRP? what a joke.

other retailers here do the same at a slightly cheaper price like frank & beans at 68 dollars shipped for a 6 pack (the RRP is bullshit) https://frankandbeans.com.au/men/anti-chafe/bamboo-trunks-bl…

but they are all overpricing them thanks to step ones success in overpricing them to all hell and getting away with it. kmart does the same thing at much cheaper prices.

    • +8

Anyone interested in a group buy? 50 people buying 10 pairs each brings the price under $6 a pair. 🤔

      • @ryann This going to happen you think? I'm in. I'd happily take 3 slots (30) pack them away for the years to come.

    • +1

Ever since I saw this on Alibaba I just need to know if they are the same.. it looks to be the case.

I'm in a pickle where I need a couple more pairs (4 or 5, would go up to 10) but don't want to spend $18 per pair… I went halves with someone on 15 a few years ago during EOFY sale for $11.90 a pair but they have gone up $1.40, it's too much, especially knowing the markup on these bad boys.

      • Yea I just noticed they have gone up in price

    • Alasdir, can’t pm you. thank you for the link. looks great and bought some. extra 8% off. code July777. Bought 6 packs spin trunks as well. Total under $100. Bargain…. buy one size up, as sizing tends to be firm.

  • Is the brand name a reference to the underpants gnomes from south Park?

    • I've never thought about it until now, but you must be right! Difference is they actually worked out Step 2: "sell cheap AliEx goods with markup to suckers"

      • +1

its hardly fair to call out Step One on this. there are hundreds if not thousands of brands doing exactly the same thing.

        • Why not?

It's a bargain site, so good to have info on what they are, cheaper alternatives and their real source price, rather than made up RRPs.

          • @opposablethumbs: because like most other stuff on alibaba, you cant buy in qty's that a person would need, its all wholesale buy.

I get it, i actually pointed this out probably on black friday last year. doesnt change the fact that most everything is mass produced and then rebranded. more than half, if not all of the USB cables, Chargers, power banks and other electronics people are buying on here on amazon are similar practices.

any product you see advertised on instagram is likely something you can buy for $6 a piece if you're buying 500+ of it.

            • @Laserface: There are already links in this thread showing alternatives for half to a third of this "sale" price, with no suggestion you need to buy 500+.

A quick search on Aliexpress will find you many more that can be bought in small quantities for much cheaper.

I repeat, this is a bargain site and info on made up RRPs and cheaper alternatives are exactly what should be posted to help other OzBers.

at some point between black friday last year and the year before that, they changed the material used in the waist band and its not as comfortable as the older ones. its a much stronger elastic and the backing is not as smooth.

still good undies but the older ones were better imo. and not just because theyve been worn in.

    Price keeps going up :(
Great underwear, I do need some more but can't stomach the ever inflating prices.

  • +3

Kmart feels the exact same but is less than half the price

  • +1

If you’re okay with no fly, these really are the go for $8. Shorter ones are $6, and I’d usually go shorter, but in this context with the gusset providing anti-ride, the longer legs make more sense.

    https://www.kmart.com.au/product/anti-ride-mid-length-bamboo…

    • I got as many pairs as I could online. They really are comfy.

  • Tried these guys with the 50% off sale a few weeks ago…

Think they've got some problems in the back end processing orders. Got a shipping confirmation 2 weeks ago, order hasn't turned up… when I got into the account to view the order still says they "getting my order ready."

Have tried support, but no response yet.

  • I have a big ass and super thick legs. I bought a pair to trial a few weeks back and then got myself 7 pairs just then.

Would highly recommend. I'm wearing a pair right now and it just feels great.

I bought some bamboo jocks from another deal on this site, There thinning and falling apart in less than half the time of the Kmart cotton ones, maybe these are of better quality again and i would hope so for the price..

    • +1

Found the same… mine did not last 5 times… falling apart.
