I have previously used the eBay Best Price Guarantee a few times, which comes in handy when I have discounted eBay gift cards or wish to use eBay Plus hassle free returns.
I recently tried to claim this guarantee on a Samsung Tab A7 32GB tablet, price beating Bing Lee's $299 price (yes I know Officeworks/Amazon had it for $249 yesterday, which is even better).
However, they refused because the listed "ticket price" is $377 and the "offer price" is $299. Previously, I was able to beat any catalog price from their listed retailers, as long as the offer was available to the public. I went through a bunch of retailers, with a couple of reps and each was refused because they had a higher RRP crossed out and do not consider any sale pricing.
Has anyone had any recent experience with this? Each time I was told, it is now internal policy to only consider the listed RRP or regular price. This excludes a whole lot from their listed retailers unfortunately, as they always have an RRP listed.
I can see how they may exclude the Amazon deal yesterday as it was only available to Prime members. However, I cannot see anywhere in the T&C where it might exclude a regular sale or only calculating based on RRPs - which things rarely sell for.
In the end I purchased through Amazon. However, it's a bit disappointing to see the policy on this change.
