V11 or should I be looking at alternatives for this price?
New house and first time buying a stick vacuum, any advice appreciated
I was you, a year ago!
I went with a cheaper vacuum (Dreams V9) while we worked out what was important to us; how the new carpets wore, do we want a click button or hold?, is it too heavy or can we go bigger?, do we need an outsize or is a smaller vac okay?, etc.
The new Dreame T20 is similar price to the V9 I bought, and it’s a lot better than the V9, so you may not need to upgrade at a later date if you went a similar route.
We just purchased a V15 Detect as we ended up getting a puppy and the V9 wasn’t good enough at picking up pet fur.
Thanks mate, appreciate the reply!
sorry to dig old stuff up but how do you find the v15?
is it heavy, how is the battery ect?
We’re loving it so far. We use it every day and haven’t had to use Boost (max suction) mode once - outside of testing it. The Auto mode gets everything, including pet hair, on the first passover.
It’s certainly heavy if you use the carpet head with the gates closed. We do that once per week to deep clean the carpets. But the nature of Dyson’s design makes their vacuums top heavy, which is not ideal. My wife has vacuumed the entire (260m2 cleaning area) house and only at the end she mentioned that she started feeling the weight of the vacuum becoming noticeable.
You should watch the Vacuum Wars video on the V15 if you’re interested in the vacuum. It helped me out a lot. Then I went to a Good Guys store to pick it up and confirm it wasn’t too unwieldily.
Battery life is good. We have the Absolute Clean version with the advanced HEPA filter and I believe it uses a little more battery than the standard version. However, on Auto I vacuum the entire 260m2 house and still have ~45% remaining. It’s decreased our cleaning time significantly (compared to the Dreame V9) as it requires single passovers on all surfaces, a big enough bin not to require emptying during cleans and battery life to get the entire clean done in one session.
Overall I like the vacuum and think it will suit most people. The laser is cool but hardly useful during the day - it’s simply not bright enough to see over sunlight. I use it after dinner for a quick clean up of the hard floors and it is incredible to see how much dirt, dust and pet fur hangs around between cleans.
If you’re not into the laser or the advanced HEPA filter you may want to look into other vacuums in Dysons new range. They have the largest range they’ve ever had, including a V12, Outside, Omniglide and a V12 Lite. All covered in detail on Vacuum Wars YouTube channel!
@Broos: Thanks so much for the review!
Did you buy the hepa filter version or the filter itself after purchase, I noticed that the part numbers are the same for the filters on dysons site for both models?
And cheaper if you have access to JB vouchers. For example, I can get some via Macquarie Bank.
How is JB the same price.. V11 shows 899 at JB
As we all know, prices fluctuate. They were the same price as Amazon yesterday. https://pricehipster.com/product/ijztJOpfOn1Fr6X0eT8sOA~r1s7…
Clearly that sale ended overnight. Thanks for your helpful comment.
I snoozed and I lost..
Thanks for clarifying.
Your welcome.
Can anyone honestly tell me if these Dysons are worth the price?
Have picked up a Dreame v9 to do a couple rooms(office and bedroom, nothing crazy) for $170. I am really struggling to see the value in spending this much money on a vacuum.. I have heard strong opinions from both sides of the fence. Honestly I just get the vibe that Dyson is the Apple of the home appliances world.
I went from the Dreame V9 to Dyson V15 and there’s certainly a difference. It’s up to you whether you thinks it’s worth paying for.
The V9 required multiple pass overs on carpet to get things the Dyson gets in one go. For me, I want to minimise my time cleaning, so the V15 was certainly worth it.
We ended up with the V9 and it has blown us away at how well it works. Super happy with it.
What did you have before the V9?
@Broos: An extremely old, almost industrial Nilfisk. It was an absolute beast of a thing that only a few places still sold the filter bags for(yeah that old) and we loved it, but lugging it around wasnt great and eventually the motor died beyond repair, we would still have it now if it didnt cark it
V9 and it has blown us away
dare i say you are using the Vacuum wrong
The dyson v11 animal on prime shows a flexi crevice tool in the photos. Would this be included?? Its not normally a default accessory and i cant find a list of whats in the box
Out of stock show for anyone else? My phone is being glitchy
is v15 worth extra dollars vs v11?
based on dyson website, v15 is 67% more powerful suction
well if you guys still interested
i was on the online chat with Dyson and basically said i missed out on the prime day deal for $719.20 and the chat consultant matched the deal and sent a link to pay with free express shipping and bonus filter,

Thanks for your patience. I'm afraid we cannot price match Ozbargain for the V11 Animal model. The best price we can offer for the V11 Animal is $999. You will be able to view this model here: https://www.dyson.com.au/dyson-v11-animal
At the current moment, under our terms and conditions, the retailers we can price match to include: Harvey Norman, Bing Lee, The Good Guys, JB Hi-Fi, David Jones and Myer.
If you would like further details on our Best Price Policy, feel free to visit our Terms & Conditions page: https://www.dyson.com.au/support/terms-and-conditions.aspx.
i didn't even use a link, and they didn't ask for one i just mentioned i missed the prime day deal for the V10.. and the chat consulted came down and matched the $719.20 price and asked if i was happy to proceed ..
PM me your email and i'll send you a transcript of the conversation
Anyone else get the v11 animal and find the motorhead has very loud vibrations when being used… especially when on solid floor?
just bought one today, went from V7 so it blows my mind about its power, no it doesnt have loud vibration but def have a loud noise
Ended up getting a replacement head from Dyson which is much better.
