Sound Volume of 'Echo Dot (3rd Gen) ' Compare to Any Other Bluetooth Speakers Like Anker

Thinking to buy $19 Echo Dot (3rd Gen) in current sale but would like to hear from those who already have it or know about it sound volume compare to other bluetooth speaker from Anker etc (under $60 tag). Is the echo dot 3rd gen good enough for backyard party music (not too loud)?

  • It's not going to be the quality of a true Bluetooth speaker, but 3rd generation Echo Dot introduced a much better driver and speaker quality. The sound is quite decent given its size and unlike previous generations, it actually has pretty good bass as well.

    • great and what about the sound volume?

      • These things can actually get quite loud. The sound volume is quite decent, it's plenty good for a backyard bbq.

  • +1

No, they lack in bass response and overall volume. It has to be plugged in too, unless you buy a third party battery pack.

You’ll be better served by a larger, wireless speaker. You only want the dots if you want a small, unobtrusive, digital assistant.

    • Ahh you mean it has to be plugged in all the time to be able to work?
I thought once you charge it, leave the charger behind and take the speaker with you anywhere?

      • No, they don’t have internal batteries.

        • that's big no no then :(
