Logitech G X52 HOTAS $159 Delivered @ Computer Alliance eBay

110
PPSS100

A classic "Hands On Throttle And Stick" (HOTAS) controller at $9 less than the camelcamelcamel all-time low and nearly $40 cheaper than the last time it was on OzBargain, with free delivery.

In the game Elite Dangerous the spaceship flight control graphics were modelled on the X52, so it's a common choice for that game. Works with pretty much any flight sim too.

P.S. The slightly redesigned version X52 Pro is also cut to $236.55 at the same eBay store using a different code PLUSF5 (just $6 more than the camels low), but the price on the standard X52 seemed the headline to me.

P.P.S. Over on Amazon (also via Computer Alliance) there's a huge bargain on the flash-looking X56 at $269 delivered (posted by MJ1 on Saturday). There's always debate over which is the nicest HOTAS to actually use, so it's best to look up some recent reviews if you have the budget to choose between these deals.

Awesome product at a great price, have been using for 10+ years.

Two issues I have had in that time are:
    • The rubber grips kind of melted/deteriorated as it tends to on all products with this stuff but I removed it with some nail polish remover.
    • One of the sensors got dirty and caused it to constantly turn left…. Pulled it apart and cleaned it with no issues, plenty of YouTube vids for this.

Keep in mind, my model is old and these problems may be fixed with the newer versions.

could you use that sports tape that they wrap around things like tennis racquets or something on the grip?

The plastic hand grip itself is still on there, its just the rubber overlay of it if you know what I mean. Once it comes off it is just like regular plastic underneath.
Think of the soft touch material on a tv remote or game controller, after a few years the grippy part goes almost like a sticky material and needs to be cleaned off but leaves the base plastic behind.

What's the diff between this one and the black Logi X52 ?

    • +2

      You mean the x56?

Other than all the buttons, size, layout, colors and features?
      Not much.

I think you mean the X52 Pro, not the X56.

To quote a Reddit comment: "The only differences between the two, having owned both, is that the pro has metal switch covers and a better-feeling rubberized black coating on the stick, as well as a different color LED in the covered button, and, of course, it is black plastic instead of silver. Otherwise they are identical."

I think there's a slight difference in the joystick tension, but they're both considered to have relatively slack tension compared with some other HOTAS models. In my opinion, the standard X52 has a "spacecraft" look and the X52 Pro has an "aircraft" look.

Pretty good deal. I paid about $200 for mine. The cover over the top button on the joystick locked up for me. Couldn't un-lock it without shearing some of the plastic off so it no longer has that nice tension when you un-cover the button. Oh well. Otherwise a pretty good HOTAS.

Woops, I was too busy hurriedly ordering to notice. Cheers.

Looks like they've raised the price $10. Can still get it for $169.

Already received my order. Amazingly fast shipping times from QLD to WA. They don't package these in a shipping box though; it was just in its outer retail box but nonetheless it seems to have travelled well.

    • Same here. It was funny watching the courier walk down the driveway with the retail box, grinning at me.
