Won't buy out of protest, in the US the Complete Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim pack is $50USD. Skyrim alone is $40.

yep as per other posts any game with region pricing where they pay less in the US cant be considered a bargain as we pay in the same currancy for the same game, and its digitally delivered!
it may not be steams fault, but i'm voting based on this game at this price…

region pricing is a rip off!

It's funny that $59.99 is the standard price in USA. Nothing like a good bit of price hitching on Steam.

    • Dont blame Steam or Valve. Its the games publishers that push that price.

A lot of publishers do the right thing and give us the best price but activision and bethesda especially try and take every penny from us.

I might grab it anyway as ill be recovering from surgery for 3 weeks and would be good to play.

        ^^ This is true

Just wondering however, since Steam is such a predominant game distribution platform, whether they could put some pressure on the publishers to provide the same price… Wait… doesn't valve do the same price gouging too?

        • Nope, except for lowering the price in developing countries, afaik.

I don't blame Steam or Valve, but not buying it is still the way to make the point. Also, Steam could be more forceful on the matter (gog have taken a firm stance on this).

        • The only problem is that if they try and force publishers to put one price for all regions, the publishers would probably give up on steam and put all their games on Origin or something where they are allowed to charge whatever they like.

As long as people are willing to pay the high prices they will try and charge for them.

      • Yeah, I know. I didn't specifically blame them, I just said it happens on Steam. Still, just means I will search for other places to buy.

  • I bought Skyrim on release for $35 from gamesplanets uk, legit site.. I don't get why people can't use google and find a better price..

29 bucks from the gmg sale, woot woot ^.-

  • I find it funny that the texture DLC for Skyrim is almost as big as the game itself. Well close anyway, 5.2Gb vs 3.1Gb.

    • I find it funny that Rage was 22gb in size.. for what? lol

    • I'm not at all, textures are the bulk of most games these days, and if they are higher quality, you would expect the pack to be more than the original game if they actually replaces all of the textures (highly unlikely).

    • I also find it funny that they had to wait so long to release it. Gone are the days of Bethesda games pushing the envelope with PC performance. Seems consoles are the lowest common denominator now.

You can still buy Skyrim for $53.79 from greenmangaming.com if you want to save another $6.

I don't get the neg - it's true, and it's a saving albeit pretty small (and it does register on steam and all that). Seems to me though if you're buying now you'd want to pay the $10 extra and get the bundle with Morrowind and Oblivion on Steam :)

      • i agree….just puts the poster off sharing in future. Weak

Why was it that I was expecting an onslaught of haters because Steam has lost its touch these past couple of years.

Honestly, I knew this was not the "cheapest" copy of Skyrim, and was expecting that Australia was getting ripped off for no real reason, like usual, but to some, they like the security of buying the game and knowing it will work or not have to face server overloads to attempt to get their Skyrim for $29.99

But checking other websites like GMG, Skyrim is cheaper but does not even sell the previous Elder Scrolls games, which were also stated in the title.

Also, Steam says it’s a sale and "sharing is caring", so why not post it on Ozbargain?

If you can be bothered with proxies and stuff like that, Steam UK has it going for $34.32… which should be the price us Aussies "should" get it for >_>

    • Use proxy and risking your account banned? Nah…

    • The issue is not the proxy, but the australian credit card. I support getting games directly on steam for the reasons given, provided it is the same price as other equivalent locations (UK, US).

  • Great game, but terrible OZ price gouging.
Just get it from GMG, it's a steamworks game, so it makes no difference where you buy it.

  • add me in steam and I can buy it legit for you from the US store.

  • Can someone in the US buy a steam game and gift it to someone in Aus? Sensing a potential business model here, not sure how it hasn't happened yet.

    • … look up? gizmomelb is advertising exactly that…

add me in steam and I can buy it legit for you from the US store.

That hardly constitutes a business model based on the information in his comment or steam profile…

    • My understanding is that while 'importing' for personal use is completely legit (and it is VERY questionably how they are able to lock that out), importing for the purpose of on selling is another thing entirely.

      • For example, my friend bought a Dota 2 'gift' in exchange for steam credit (ie money on steam account) a while back, so its achieved through the steam trading system. Not sure if you can cash out of steam though.
