HyperX QuadCast USB Gaming Microphone $165 (Older Non-RGB Model) Pickup /+ Shipping @ JB Hi-Fi

140

I was looking for a Condenser Microphone, and was looking in the $100-$120 range, but then noticed the older HyperX Quadcast on sale at JB HiFi.

At $165, I'm not sure if it's the cheapest it's been, but it certainly felt like a deal based on the features it comes with:

  • Gain Control
  • Monitoring ability
  • Shock Mount
  • Built-in Pop Filter (Although reviews say it's not that great)
  • Touch to Mute / Unmute (Red glow means live)

The newer RGB model sells for $250+, and whilst you can control the colour and uses a more modern USB-C connector, I don't think there's much difference in audio quality? Some light googling seems to indicate this.

    Deep(profanity)Value here

  • It has been cheaper. But I'm keen to see what others think.

    • I did see that on eBay, but the seller had 0 feedback - I'm not confident of great customer service if there happens to be a defect later on.

  • I have the SoloCast and it's pretty decent, actually a stereo channel microphone, as opposed to something like the Razer Seiren Mini, which isn't.

Blue Snowball positively ancient at this point

Better than a $50 Blue Yeti Nano?

  • +1

I've had this Mic for a few years and think it is pretty good at this price, considering what i paid.

  • The 50 dollar blue yeti was an amazing deal.

  • I've got one of these, i'm happy with it but you can definitely go for better with an XLR mic instead of USB dependant on what you need out of the mic.

I had mine on a yeti compass boom arm(which broke after a month, do not reccommend) and now on a rods PSA1 which hasn't missed a beat.

One thing to note, the mic when on a boom arm is very light so sits quite high(especially on the Blue yeti compass arm)
