solid, can you tell us what firmware you got?
mine arrived today. and agree with everything, especially the sound (although bass is lacking a bit of ommf).
-FTA is okay. Just watched AFL but it could be better.
- Prime and YT is great
- it's favoured towards amazon. Google assistance works mehh. I was able to turn the TV off but not on.
- Wish YT can use voice to search videos. I am planning to get a Chrome TV for casting anywaysThanks for the feedback!
In regards to the AFL… I'm assuming you watched 7HD channel? Would it look any different if you watched it via Foxtel/Kayo?
Yep I originally watched it on 7HD.
I watched a replay on Kayo. I need to get the settings right. It's really clear but occasionally it looks weird. Like the ball is skipping or lagging? There is custom setting for motion smoothness and I was able to fix it partially. I'm going to look at the links people have posted/google to get the settings right.
@pippohippo: Isn't the replays only 30fps instead of 50fps like live games?
I watched the bombers v hawks game today. It's great, no issues. Might have been the replay/internet connection that caused the bad quality
Thanks for the feedback. Also pulled the trigger and feeling great about my purchase🤞🏻
Would you or anyone else that bought it be asked to confirm whether you can download Kayo or Optus Sport? According to the Kayo website you should be able to install, but there seems to be no support for Optus sportI'm not sure about Optus Sport..
But I can confirm that the Kayo app was added to the app store in the last firmware update and is now available.
@shockme79: did you check Disney plus?
@striker5950: No, Disney plus app is not available at the moment..
Hi,
I got it delivered from JB yesterday after reading reviews (old LG 60 UB dead after 5 years - outside extended warranty) so didnt want to spend too much.I agree with most of your review,
- FTA is a big issue for me do I need to get Telstra TV plugged in so FTA may be better or something else.
- Kids were playing Nintendo Asphalt 9 it not really good, the color and lag sometimes were getting ghost images. Enabled game mode, which made it even worse. Not sure should I return and go back to LG or Samsung, can it be returned to JB within 30 days?
I went to TGG today to have a look rather just read about it. I left unimpressed. The frame is too visible, legs are ugly. And the picture quality wasn’t jaw dropping. They had initially one of the tv channel’s morning show (live tv) I could see the pixel. Especially when they were showing the parts from the old show Nanny before interviewing the actress, it looked so disappointing. I think the content is key here. And potentially misleading.
frame? you mean the sound bar
legs? they look ok to me but if that's the deciding factor in a tv for you than just stick to a second hand tv from gumtreethird point is picture was bad, proceeds to say it was FTA SD channel morning show, loosing brain cells reading this . it would look bad on a high end OLED too because the source is shit quality, the key to good picture is good material to play on it, Netflix, prime, Disney plus, Blu-ray.. anything else wont look impressive neither should it.
I wasn’t talking about the soundbar bit, but the frame around. With regards to the pic quality. I did say the content is the key and the morning show is probably misleading. But it also applies to the custom designed content that looks gorgeous in the store.
If you can still find one I was just able to negotiate JB HIFI down to $1050 for the 65Q8 brand new, with no delivery or extra warranties. Stock was minimal only Moore Park left in Sydney AFAIK.
ps: Got myself a display model for $950. Had it had no feet they would have accepted $750.
damn bro cheap, 1050 solid buy. i got the 55 inch for 995, 65" is too big for my room
Wowza!
Any chance you can upload a receipt ?
Done.
Thanks, wondering if you already brought for 1199 from JB like on Friday, can you ask for the difference amount.!
I doubt it I'm afraid.
Haha you just beat me to it! I was going to ask about the display on and thought would go grab lunch first then I came back and there was a handmade sold sign!
Great buy mate!
Sorry about that. :)
Nah dont apologise! You got a great deal and glad it was a fellow ozbargainer.
Hey all,
Every time I'm about to buy this I see an average review.
Can people help me out, please!
I have a 55" Kogan TV with Chromecast TV. The TV itself has awful speakers and takes ages to power on but the chromecast hides it's OS.
I only have a switch and PC for gaming so won't get an xbox ps5. I use the TV for streaming TV shows and movies.
I can budget up to about 1500 and I have price protection so I can buy now if it's likely to go down later.
So with all that said, should I buy this TV? I am concerned that the lack of HDMI 2.1 will hurt it's future proofing so maybe should wait till next gen but that said I don't really have a use for it so will I last up to 5 years without it.
If I did want to pay more what would I expect to get better (without going to OLED) are the 1500~ TVs significantly better or do they just have better software which is irrelevant once you chuck a chromecast on it?
Thanks heaps!
Yes. Yes you should buy this tv.
Take a spoonful of cement, toughen up and just buy it. $1,169 is great value for a screen of this quality.
Simple, thanks!
Can anyone tell me what AFL looks like on the Q8? Whether its through Kayo/Foxtel or 7HD?
$1048 Delivered here for anyone following. 4 available.
The store appears to be the Harvey Norman clearance store. Reference.
dang thanks for that, how could i resist at that price.
ARGH noooooo i missed out :(
PPSS100 Coupon seems to be expired.
TNT won't deliver mine unless I have a forklift on site apparently … they say the booking was made assuming that I'd have a forklift … what the heck.
what 😂
what do they need a forklift for
Did you guys need to be home for the delivery?
Heh. Has anyone here had any trouble getting the built in media player to stream movie length video over a LAN? Mine works fine for maybe a third or half of the stream before very briefly buffering and restarting the stream from the beginning. FWIW I've applied 2 firmware updates and tried many of the settings but the behaviour is unchanged. And streaming in this manner works perfectly fine on the older 55 inch Hisense in another part of the house.

I have regular old google chromecast and that gets power thought the usb port and works well on q8.
FTA HD channels look miles better than though my foxtel box.
