Bob Jane have buy 3 get 1 free on Dunlop SP Sport LM705. Worth checking their price fitted and comparing.

  • My usual rant: good for ….?

Do you want grip, quiet or long life? Generally you can choose 2 out of those three, or only one if you are on a tight budget.

Do you drive city, highway or 50/50? Do you drive like grandma going to church or a p-plater in a wrx?

    • Thanks for the comment . updated the post..
      good for general use .

get someone in Melb to price match this Michelin Primacy. It would be difficult to top this tyre. For some reason, I thought it was $165 but it's $175. Still not too bad.

Either of the 2 choices you've found on special are good value but the Michelin is next level… It would also be better than Bridgestone Serenity Plus in just about every way (I'm thinking Michelin might even win out in terms of noise).

    • excellent find . lets see if anyone can price match in melb

    • can not find any deals on Michelin primacy

    • Primacy4 are an outstanding tyre.Continually topping the tyre comparisons in their bracket.

  • You'll get a ContiMaxContact MC5 for ~$150 (you can where I live in Sydney). They are a good tyre.

Unfortunately your tyre size isn't the most common and you'll pay for it.

What do you mean by "current tyres are old" Are they bald or 10 years old and gone hard or what?

I fitted Grenlander 205/55r16 to our Accord Euro because that was within budget and they are surprisingly good in dry and wet. Better that the Toyos that were on it. They'll set you back around $400 delivered & fitted.

  • Michelin Pilot sport are a great tyre. Back-up would be Bridgestone RE003/Continental Conticontsct range.

I have no clue if these come in your size.

If you’re in Sydney, Tempe tyres have generally been cheapest I’ve found. You can also get your local tyre place to price match with them.

  • If the LM705 is as bad as then LM704 then I'd stay away from them. Virtually no grip in the wet.

    • Thanks man

If you can wait a little longer i highly recommend getting some Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres , they are a premium tyre that is only a little out of your budget ($800 fitted) from Tempe Tyres.

They are an extremely comfortable tyre and they excel in both dry and especially wet weather for extra safety , i have personally thrashed these tyres and taken them onto the racetrack and their grip levels are very good for a street tyre in all conditions.

Bob jane has them in your size for $856 if you can't wait for tempe

If you value your life and the safety of others a set of good tyres are the only thing that hold you onto the road and reduces the braking distance required to stop the car in all conditions thereby highly assisting the probability of accident prevention should anything happen.

Never skimp on tyres , peoples lives change drastically for worse after an accident and you would never forgive yourself if the difference was literally a few hundred dollars.

    • Totally understand. what price did you got for yours ?

      • any backup tryres?

        • No backup tyres due to the design of my car, i carry a tyre repair kit and a tyre inflator so if i ever cop a nail that leads to a flat there is a high probability i can patch it up myself and get back going on the road and then get it professionally repaired at a later date.

Mine cost alot more because my tyre profile is alot bigger then yours.

But with your car being a front wheel drive , as long as you rotate your tyres every 10 or 15,000km and ensure your wheel alignment is good and tyre pressures are checked regularly you could easily get 60,000km if not more out of a set of PS4s. but the most important point here is it will be comfortable but great levels of grip in the dry and wet.

For me i don't like all seasons tyres because they are exactly that , they never excel in any one particular category. i prefer sports tyres because they excel in the dry and where the PS4s shine is the special tyre compound they use so it excels in the wet as well. all seasons tyres are for the lazy man who cant be bothered with cars or the understanding of why regular tyre maintenance is required.

  • I like TyreRight as they are Aussie and they are owned by the local people that run them

At the moment they have a buy 3 get the 4th one free. So have a look at the above.
I always either have Yokohama's or Toyo's on my car, but that is me. I was a front end mechanic that used to work at Bob Janes in Springvale in the 80's. I just drive hard now, that is why I like good tyres ;)
