I am also looking to rent a car for later in the year, so would welcome any discount codes that people know about. Doesnt have to be Thrifty, could be anywhere.

Lookup sites like retailmenot.com for coupon codes and vroomvroomvroom.com.au for overall comparison.
I usually look at retailmenot, open a tab for each company and run through the codes until I find the best option.
You can try searching using a comparison website to find the cheapest company like:
This particular one also gives you 3.5% cash back through Cashrewards and Shopback if you book through the site. Altertnatively you can just use it to compare the different companies and then book directly through the company.
I have never used this particular comparison website, so there might be a better one out there.
