Door Dash Doesn't Offer Refund for Instant Cancel?

Ordered from door dash for the first time, accidentally put the same address but in a different state. Realised as soon as I put through the payment so cancelled right away and also called the restaurant directly. Door dash notification said they can't refund because it's already cooking (I cancelled maybe 10 seconds after paying) and the restaurant says the food is cooked 2 minutes after paying.

Anyone been able to get a refund for something similar?

Edit; Spoke to live chat and got a refund

    Lesson learnt? Such as transferring money to another bank account.

    what did the restaurant say to you when you called straight away ? if you told them to cancel the order and they confirmed they did , then seams something dodgy is going on.

    • Said the food had already been cooked so there was nothing they can do about it.

    No? Refund - either through Door Dash, Paypal, chargeback, etc.

    • Chargeback is an arse move considering OP themself selected the wrong delivery address.
      Doordash and the restaurant both delivered the requested service.

      • Ah. Didn't read the wrong address portion - thought they just accidentally ordered!

        Would totally understand if it was some time after ordering that I cancelled but cancelling almost instantly after ordering I would assume some refund would be possible, hard to believe they actually cooked the food already. Doordash live chat seemed to agree and refunded me

  • You would have given them your new correct address when you called. If you called to cancel you're simply changing your mind.

    • Was in a different state unfortunately, I would understand if I called 5-10 minutes after ordering but assumed if you cancelled immediately after they wouldn't have already cooked the food. Ended up speaking to live chat and getting a refund though
