With The Great Bucket Hunt, you’ll use the KFC App to find one of 750,000 virtual buckets randomly located across the country in populated areas and close to KFC stores.
when in populated areas or close proximity to a participating KFC store, use the map of Australia contained within the App to search for KFC bucket pins. Each bucket pin will correspond to an actual physical location in real life, which (if available) will be in close proximity to your current location and will appear at a specific location on the map before randomly reappearing at a different location on the map.
Once you find a bucket pin, carefully and safely physically travel to the bucket pin location so that your mobile device’s GPS corresponds to that bucket pin's location on the map. You must arrive at the bucket pin location before time runs out and the bucket pin disappears from that location (reappearing at another location). Once the map recognises that you have reached a bucket pin location, a virtual bucket will be revealed in the App. You will then have the opportunity to spin the virtual bucket to see which prize you win. The prize will then be saved in your "Bucket Stash" in the App.
Every bucket you find wins you a prize. Plus, you get a free prize bucket when you open the app for the first time
You can find either normal Red & White Buckets, or Golden Buckets. If you reveal three Golden Buckets, you’ll win a Golden Bucket Prize – either $50,000 in cash or 1 of 8 $5,000 eftpos gift cards!
The prize will then be saved in your Bucket Stash in the App. You can bank up to 3 prizes and they expire 72 hours from collecting them.
If the prize you win is a food prize, you can choose to flip a virtual coin for a chance to win a prize of equal or greater value! If you lose the coin flip, you’ll receive a prize of equal or lesser value.
Also, when you download the App for the first time, you will receive a virtual bucket to spin to receive a free prize.

The trick is to go to your nearest Westfield and just sit in the foodcourt near KFC and wait for the buckets to arrive.
