LED or PLASMA 50-55 inch TV for price around $1500

Dear Ozbargainers,

I am in market to buy a new television with screen size 50 to 55 inch. I would prefer LED as the TV will be in a bright room and will be used a lot to watch kids programs.

I have a budget of around $1500, can spend a little more if the deal is good. Please suggest a TV and possibly help find me a bargain.

    Just ordered Samsung PS51D550 Plasma 51" from Myer 895 dollars.
    Has a great quality pictures for the price( much better than panasonic at this price point)
    Read some good reviews online first.

    Check out Kogan if you don't have your heart set on a name brand. Some TV's come with a 5 year warranty as well.

      I heard from many sources that Kogan's TV are bad.

    I'd stick with LED just cos of the power consumption and durability. Plasma's get hot!

    55 inch samsung LED $1698… It's JB Hi Fi too, doesn't hurt to bargain.

    GF's father just picked up the TH-P50ST30A for $1000 including delivery and extra 3yrs warranty from local JB.
