VKB Gladiator NXT (Joystick for Flight Simulation) - Standard $220, Premium $253 & Free Delivery @ VKB SIM AU

160

Technically this is a new RRP, not a promotion, but there are 10-20% savings compared to previously.
VKB Sim just launched their Australian store and the prices are quite a bit lower.
Previously the only way to get these products in Australia was via their Aliexpress store.

The VKB Joysticks are much higher quality than the Logitech/Thrustmaster products, so even through they're quite pricey, they should last you a lot longer.
There should be a throttle coming out in the near future.

Awesome quality sticks, I had Thrustmaster previously but the NXT Guardian Premium I replaced it with us on another level. Makes the TM feel like a toy.

    • "Guardian" - an auto-correct typo? I suspect you meant "Gladiator"!

    • Yeah it's a plague on me lately.

Love this stick, bought it from AliExpress, no regrets.

    Premium edition is great.

Nice to see they have an Aus store now … Hopefully their throttle quadrant isn't too far off.

  • No affiliation, just a flight gamer with years of annoyance over clunky joysticks…

If you don't know VKB, their products are a cut above off-the-shelf joysticks, made with quality materials, and engineered to last.

Now they have an Aussie store, there's nothing else to recommend if you want quality flight sim gear, delivered without pre-order delay, without getting raked by US dollar conversion, gst and shipping.

I have their Space Gunfighter, an older Gladiator Mk2 still going, and some pedals on the way. AMA.

They have a premium throttle in development (the TECS) which I suspect isn't too far off since they opened the AU store.

  • Oh, nice that they have a local store now. This is really nice kit.

The Gladiator is the best bang-for-buck flight stick around, period. For $250 with local warranty and not having to deal with AliExpress, there is no longer any excuse to buy Logitech or Thrustmaster in Oz.

For anyone who doesn't want to use stick extensions, $594 for the GF3 is on par with comparable Virpil gear (which I personally prefer, but both are great and a lot of people prefer VKB, so YMMV), so it's still not a no-brainer at that price… but yeah still better than $715.

If you do want to use stick extensions then this makes the VKB option about $150 cheaper than the comparable Virpil kit.

  • Would NXT Premium work on Xbox Series X/S?

    • No, unfortunately these are PC only

  • Any advice on what I need to get up and running with a standard commercial jet simulator for a complete novice? Cheers.

    • 1) Microsoft Flight Simulator. If you've got a good PC, get Flight Simulator 2020 - it's also available on the Xbox Game Pass for PC so you can try it out for just a few dollars a month. If you're PC is not that great, you can buy Flight Simulator X, which can be grabbed on sale for <$10 easily.

      2) A joystick - any joystick really. Contrary to what people think, you don't need an expensive Hands-On-Throttle-An-Stick (HOTAS) system, a basic joystick will do (e.g. the Logitech Extreme 3D or the Thrustmaster T16000m (stick only) can be had for <$100. Unfortunately these cheaper sticks don't tend to last very long, but if you're just starting out and not sure if you're going to like simming then these are nice places to start.
