Order Placed on eBay, Item Received from Kogan

Hi ,

I am not sure if this is unusual but I purchased something from Ebay but received it from kogan.
The seller name on Ebay is not Kogan but even Auspost sent an email mentioning "your shipment from Kogan.com" is on the way!
Do I need to contact Ebay or should I ignore this?

    Dropshipping?

  • What is the ebay seller? Off chance they are a Kogan marketplace seller?

    It's not uncommon IMO.

  • Compare the price against kogan, was it cheaper?

    • 12$ more on Kogan.

Sounds like they had some sort of voucher or maybe the latitude pay deal which means they got it for cheaper and sold it on.

Nothing wrong with that. In fact a lot of the drop shippers order from aliexpress and charge more. So you end up having to wait a month for the item thinking it is locally shipped.

If the item said local and receive after more than 1 week, the only feedback I can leave is negative.

    Could be a triangulation scam

    • whats that ?

        • A legitimate customer purchases an item through an auction or on a third-party marketplace.

        • The third-party marketplace seller (who is also the scammer) places an order with a genuine retailer for the same product the legitimate customer just ordered.

        • The fraudster uses stolen payment information to pay for the transaction.

        • The legitimate e-commerce retailer processes the scammers order, shipping it to the legitimate customer’s shipping address provided during checkout

        • The innocent customer receives the actual item they ordered.

        • I am innocent

@Ehty: You're innocent, the ebay seller not so innocent if this is the case.

  • What to do in this case now? block my card on ebay?

    • btw I had used afterpay for this transaction

      • Your payment was with eBay and details are not shared. assuming you are not confuse your order with another order, the seller may have used Kogan to ship the item you ordered. It won't really matters as long as you get the right item.

Could be dropshipping or triangulation fraud.
Best to report ebay so they can record a risk incident (to ensure your payment details are secure).

reported " I have now taken the appropriate action on this member's account for breaching our policy. The action I have taken will have negative impact against their account which ranges from issuing the member an informational alert, a temporary restriction, or an indefinite suspension, among others."

Ebay.com.au introduced a policy sometime ago that the seller can't provide your personal details (Name, Address) to a separate business apart from the courier or postage company. In effect this policy aims at cut down on drop shippers, as there are plenty out there who are doing it from a range of sources, whether that be Kogan, Target, Kmart or Amason or more.
