Which Site Is Best to Look for IT Resources

If you are looking for skilled IT resources locally in certain areas (say SAP or Saleforce or Cognos or any area sufficiently skilled); which site would you look at. I find Seek just gives you a lot of junk and recruiters contacting you. LinkedIn has not been that successful either in returning qualified results.

Whirlpool used to have a decent jobs board where I got quality responses previously; so am wondering where do people look now.

    Peers?

    • Thats usually my first go to, but am finding that we are having more openings that people we know and need to expand the net a bit wider.

      • If you already exhausted all the options, then probably best to up the rates offered and/or lower requirements.

  • Depending on the level of person your looking for, try some of the training places that you trust… ask for any outstanding students recently …. might be worth looking into?

It’s extremely hard to find candidates in IT at the moment. You might need to use an agency (and pay for it) if you need somebody swiftly.

  • You'll find mixed bag of applicants in any market. Unfortunately for you, sap/servicenow/salesforce/cognos is a platform swarmed with people that come into the industry because of the money. Very rarely I find someone passionate about IT in that field. Given enough time, a mediocre developer can be platform superstar.

If you are technical and know how to spot good developer from their code, github is your friend.

  • IT professionals are in extremely high demand at present especially the good ones/senior. With little to no skilled ppl coming into Oz at present and for the foreseeable future the pool of ppl is drying up and its also pushing daily rates up. Good devs are now commanding upwards of $1300 per day.
