Documentaries like these aren't any good for escapism from Clown World.

  • +3

Fantastic find! Instant purchase at that price, thanks.

Damn, haven't even got a 4K TV yet but I'll snap this up.

@serpserpserp: No I meant these would be the words an OzBargainer would see on billboards throughout the city, after they put on a pair of Hoffman lenses.

    Doesn't have The Thing :(

    • +1

Also doesn't have Big Trouble In Little China :(

  • I heard you were dead.

  • +9

yeah no "The Thing" that would have been worth it on its own!

    • I still think the original was better. I’m not big on buckets of gore.

      • +1

        You're a weird dude, dude.

        • I’m a dudette. I prefer the psychological rather than the gross.

          • +1

@try2bhelpful: But the original is neither. It's bland schlock. It's a big Plant Frankenstein and the scientists say no we must study and then they die so they kill the plant man.

The 80s version is primarily psychological (who can you trust?) with a physical element.

    • Switch in The Thing for The Fog. The Fog is just a rough draft of Pirates of the Caribbean.

  • +15

Worth it for "They Live" alone

  • +8

They Live is legitimately the most under rated film in cinema history. The alleyway fight scene alone is cinematic perfection!

    • +7

I think a lot of Carpenter's stuff is underrated, besides the obvious - Halloween. Big Trouble in Little China is one of my all-time favorites and has been since I was a kid.

      • +6

it should have been Big Trouble in Little Chin/the thing/they live/ escape from new york

    • +2

one of the great b movie classics without doubt - up there with jugger ,screamers etc

      • +1

YES! Haha, Screamers! I've never seen anyone mention it in the wild. I love that one too! Found that one channel surfing at 2am as a teen.

        • salute of the jugger - why no 4k?

ghosts of mars another b classic…. again no 4k

You better hope I don't come back.

    This movie needs a reboot.

Fun Fact….US agent from Falcon and winter soldier is actually Kurt Rusell's son. 😲

  • Any special features? Or film only

    • +1

From what I've read, it's just the movies. No bonus features.

  • +1

    Awesome find indeed

  • My order keeps getting cancelled due to verification check. Anyone else?

  • done, in hand

  • +2

Awesome. Been wanting this set for a while but $75 was just too much. Thanks for sharing.

  • +2

    Thanks op

  • +1

Excellent! I used to always look forward to there being a John Carpenter movie on TV at Halloween when I was small.

  • No 3D?

I don't want to put on the glasses.

  • Why doesn't 'The Thing' have a 4K/UHD release?

    • +1

It's like why is there no Aliens UHD. Just a travesty.

      • +1

Aliens, Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection are currently getting remastered in 4K with a boxset that's supposed to be released sometime next year.

        • I don't want the boxset just give me Aliens

I am not interested in the rest

  • +4

Awesome find. My wife hates horror movies, but who cares? Purchased without doubt.

  • “They live” could now have been a title for a Lgbt horror, thriller movie.

i sense cancelled orders tomorrow morning.

    • +1

Why? Its been on sale all arvo plus people already have it in hand. Clearly just being cleared out for some reason.

      • Mines ready for pickup so all good for me.

    • Nah, it's on the shelf at the discounted price in the Wagga store.

    • mine got shipped even though i ordered several hours after it was posted

      • i was referring to click and collect jbhifi stock doesn't update while store is closed so 10 people could of ordered from same store and wouldn't be enough stock in the morning.

  • +2

Looks like the page isn't available anymore, so must be sold out. Enjoy those who got a copy, I just went and picked mine up earlier :)

  • +2

Got a call from Jb hifi claiming that this was a mistake, the product has been recalled and that no orders are being fulfilled.

    • +1

Just picked up my copy earlier, glad I didn't wait longer.

      • +3

Argh. Damn liars. Told me no copies had or would be sold.

Poor form JB. Cancelled my other items with them as well.

        • +3

Yep, I got a call too, but this one claiming that "all copies from all stores have been sent back to the distributor as it's a deleted title, so we won't be able to supply it."

I told them that I knew for a fact people had picked up copies earlier. "I don't think so, because we don't have any stock in any Australian store, it's all been sent back to the distributor."

Very poor form indeed from JB on this one. Just be honest and say it was a pricing error or whatever, but don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining…

          • +6

@Neon Kitten: Weak. I went to school with the person running operations in my state. Some words will be shared.

When I had a mate buy a tv recently, they had a pushy guy at the back of the store refusing to load it into his car, so he called me around with my 4wd. Same guy then tried to tell me it couldn't be loaded into my 4wd for a ton of bs reasons and that if he still wanted it done anyway they would void his warranty.

All the while kept trying to upsell a $25 delivery fee to "protect the item… and his warranty".

To add to things, he lived within walking distance, and I even offered for us to just walk it…. again walking away with it would void the warranty…

I hate dropping names but the second I mentioned going to person with this school, all of a sudden he wanted to get out a tape measure and re-measure the back of my car as it might be "deeper than it looked" and wouldn't you know it, enough room for the TV to fit and meet his "requirements" to maintain the warranty.

Then didn't want me telling this person…

            • +1

@typhoonadventure: I'd guarantee you that copies at this store that supposedly "sent them all back" (Prahran in Victoria) will be back on the shelves in no time at the regular price; they were telling me an outright lie so that I couldn't insist on them honouring the price I'd already paid. And a really lazy lie, at that - claiming that all stock got sent back to the distributor "because it's been deleted" - like, WHAT?

They haven't processed my refund yet, either.

That's one JB store I will never shop at again.

    • Well thats BS. Picked mine up from Essendon DFO no issues. They didnt have any other copies on the shelf though.

  • +1

Just raced to my local JB to pick up my copy. Thankfully no issues

  • +1

Picked up possibly the last copy in Marsden park NSW all good with no fuss even though I put the order in last night.

  • +1

    Thanks OP.

I picked it up today from the Brisbane Adelaide Street Store. They confirmed that it is a deleted title, but they are still honouring the price in store.

  • +1

Got a copy 5 minutes before it got pulled from the website.

  • +1

Picked up my copy from Jb Hi Fi in Elizabeth

  • I ordered it online on Thursday night Click and Collect and had no problems picking it up today from Maroochydore Home. I was told it was their last one. Seemed to be true as I looked at other 4k Blu-rays and didn't see any copies on the shelves.

  • Same here, ordered Thursday night and I just picked it up about 4 hours ago. Checked on the shelves and none left, asked about any extras and was told there all gone.
