Best Warranty Experience

I recently had a clothing lint residual issue with my LG top loading washing machine (10 months old) and I contacted LG customer service to report and they offered me Bing Lee gift card (retailer I bought from) equivalent to the full amount I paid and they said I can pick other brands if I want.
I’m not sure if that particular model has known issue with the lint problem but offering a gift card with option to select other brands is something that I never expected.
I just couldn’t pick other manufacturer so I went with LG higher model but this warranty goodwill really impressed with me about the LG brand and service.

What was your best warranty experience?

Also Dyson does a good job.

    • Bosch has bad service?

OP, You do know that you get to choose the repair/refund type don't you? So if you paid by cc, you can choose to have your cc refunded the whole amount….

  • If you need to use the manufacturers warranty, you are starting from a place where the product is faulty / defective. Ideally you shouldn't even have to get to that place.

Having said that, I made the mistake of buying a KitchenAid toaster a few years ago. It never produced toast to the standard that I would expect from a toaster of that price level, so I complained. KitchenAid were extremely responsive and sent a replacement via courier and told me to dispose of the original. Same issue with the replacement; same process; same outcome again.
I gave one away, there is one in the cupboard as a spare, and we just put up with the underwhelming performance, but the warranty experience was first class.

    • Why didn't you get a refund and buy a decent toaster?

      • It was a few years ago, but I think I would have had to return the toaster to the place of purchase to obtain a refund; that was inconvenient to me at the time and I went with the replacement via courier initially, thinking that would resolve it.
Second time around I had probably already decided to keep the original, but tried for a better resolution anyway.

And, you know, humans adapt so I now know (through experience) how to set the toaster to the multiple various settings to achieve my desired toast-related outcome.

the warranty was terrible then if you still have a faulty toaster.

      • Erm… read the post, they had a toaster that didn't toast well. It was replaced at least twice. They still have a toaster that doesn't toast well….but they do have spare toasters that also don't toast well.

        • +1

I did read it. so still faulty. and they still paid for it.

good warranty would have been money back after the second was still poor, not we keep your money and you keep two poor toasters.

          • @PVA: Apologies - i thought you were saying "if the warranty was terrible……"

  • Best i have experenced is from
    Apple
    Amazon
    Sony

I have had 2 very bad experiences with Samsung (not phone) (brand is a no go for me now)
    Westinghouse was also a nightmare.

  • Samsung

TV and SD card, more than a few years after purchase for both

Gigabyte was the worst. RMA into the ether.

  • TCL
    Mitsubishi (refrigerator)
    LG
Bing Lee as a retailer has been great the one time I had a problem with a product purchased there.
I used LG warranty service once for a LG aircon, no problems. Turned out the problem had been caused by the installer.
Our LG top load washing machine is over 10yrs old and still works like new. Op.. get another one!

  • Panasonic - air con noisy. camera that was water proof. both quick and easy, air was service (installer was poor), camera replaced.

Sony ps4 (two of them), but went through BigW and they just replaced it with another on site

worse was apple with faulty mac Air power supply, and ages ago with a faulty iPod. I hear about good service but i dont beleive it, I havent had it and my sister had crap service with her faulty iphone as well.

My elderly dad had a base model (I think 4 series) Bosch dishwasher that went faulty well out of warranty (at least a few years past warranty), was pump fault. Bosch replaced the whole dishwasher with a new one, organised install and removal of old. All zero cost to him.

Of all the electronics we have had over the years we've been pretty lucky and hardly ever had any problems.

Best by far would be GE clock radio in the bedroom, parents bought it for me when I was around 19, its still going strong and i am in my late 50s. It has a heap of buttons on it (keypad to enter time, multiple alarms, can fade the music on at alarm rather the blast it out….great clock)

Next, a Delonghi Auto coffee machine, its read out says we have made over 14,000 coffees with it! Never a service except quick clean a descale when it asks.

To be fair, the GE clock radio and the coffee machine have not been subject to any warranty claim.

      • Well, that’s true. They have never needed a service and one is almost 40 years old.

I forgot to add Panasonic front loader washer, first week the seal started lifting off, called Panasonic and someone was there within a few days and fixed it, no hassles at all.

  • TCL for me were relatively quick (3 weeks) from reporting to replacement, call centre was ok, however i am worried the same thing may happen again
Misso took her Iphone XS Max which was a couple of years old - with a cracked screen as well back to apple because of an internal storage failure.
Left with a brand new XS Max. Apple and their attack on the right to repair generation is costing them a bit. But i guess when you effectively pay for four phones (Materials cost) when you purchase one they've factored the cost of failures in.

  • A month ago my Oral-B electric toothbrush stopped holding charge. I shipped it to them on a Friday, and received it back repaired on the next Thursday. 6 day no-fuss turnaround - very impressed. I was expecting to not see the toothbrush for 3 or 4 weeks.

  • Not a warranty experience but a nice one any way…

Samsung - dropped an S8+ and gave to Samsung for screen replacement. When I picked up they replaced battery for free while they had the unit open. Phone was 18 months old so it was a nice improvement in battery life.

  • HPM.

Our bathroom exhaust fan died after 3 years or so, within the 5 year warranty.

Sent them an email, they replied the next day asking for proof of purchase and installation. They then replied immediately once I sent that through and sent an electrician to the house to remove to old unit and install a new one.

  • I have a 2017 Lg Oled tv I got burn in last year I contacted Lg sent them some photos and they organised a replacement screen within 2 weeks it was 2 years out of warranty.Very good I thought.

  • I've had a few amazing ones over the last year.

Just yesterday i contacted LIFX about an 800 watt white globe that's stopped being detected which I bought from them 4 years ago to ask if there was anything I could do or was it junked.

Got an email back saying it sounds junked but they will talk to their manager to see if they can arrange a replacement as a good will gesture.

    • I spoke to soon.

The manager didn't approve so no replacement.

      • Mine was about 27 months before it just randomly died and all they could offer was a 30% discount.
