No, it was an in store purchase from awhile back. Need to send it in for repair, so want some sort of proof I have posted it or better still it has been delivered.
No worries, ask the Store for an RA or Return Authority.
Assuming they use Auspost, take it to a Post Office and approach the counter staff for assistance with Packaging and Tracking info via MyPost
You can buy from the Post Office parcel label stickers to apply to an item that will provide full tracking
We had to send an item for warranty just the other week, using reply paid. The post office staff member asked us if we wanted tracking, which we did and just paid for that. Worked well.

Return Paid parcels does not have tracking provided. However tracking is provided when Signature of Delivery is purchased and combined with the Return Paid service.
Was it paid via PayPal?
If so, then Courier.

Proof that you've returned a parcel will depend how you've sent it back for return.
