Is Kogan Network Performance Identical to Vodafone?

Hey guys,

I'm thinking of giving the 3 month Kogan deal a try for one of my mobile plans and was just wondering if the reception and data speed would be identical to regular Vodafone, which is good where I live.

I wasn't sure if the resellers get the full network capacities.

And also did they iron out the issues with porting from voda to Kogan? A year or two back there were lots of horror stories.

Cheers

Identical. Some phones just show VF network.

  • Pretty sure kogan uses vodafone towers.

Kogan doesn't support VoLTE/VoWiFi, your calls will therefore all be 3G.

All calls on any network ie. voice and txt are 3G, just the data speeds go up with 4G or Volte etc

Do you know what the "V" in VoLTE stands for?

      • Are you serious?

  • Cheers guys,

How about the data speed? Should it be the same?

I was with amaysim and it didn't really work well inside the house but Vodafone does. I'm happy with the service, just thought Kogan would be good if it's the same as it's cheaper.

Maybe an idea to fork out $5 for a starter pack and make your own on-site comparison?

    • OP never uses dual SIMs and worries too much.

    • This i shall do :)

      • You won't be able to take advantage of the 90 day sim if you buy the $4.90 first. That's if you're wanting to use the same number.

You'll have to port out for 30 days.

  • I have Kogan Mobile and my iPhone says "vodafone AU" at the top, so I guess everything is identical.

      Xiaomi phone identifies its Kogan.

      No its not identical.

When you make or receive a call with a Vodafone reseller, your call will drop from 4G to 3G whereas if you were with Vodafone it will be delivered via the 4G network.

  • I can get LTE B1,B3,B28 with Kogan

  • for the introductory price you can't really beat it.
Wouldn't stick with them long term though.

i was last with them 3 years ago when the vodafone network was getting good again and i'm pretty sure they used the exact same network then.
Since then when porting out of boost temporarily i jumped back on them for a month. Can comfortably say their reception and speeds have dropped considerably, not worth it imho.
    Sticking with Boost for now.

  • I'm not a big user of my phone, and I live in an inner city cuburb of a capital city, so I'm happy with the 365 day Kogan prepaid plans - so cheap! Works out around $16 a month for me. However I find the reception really patchy and speed isn't great. Probably would not go with them if I was going to start relying on my phone more.

  • Please don't forget to UNSUBSCRIBE / CANCEL YOUR KOGAN FIRST if you just signed up to get a deal, I forgot to cancel and have been paying it for 5 or 6 months for no reason.
