Is this gshopper reliable supplier? I've never seen them before.

Hi all, I just want to let you know my experience with Xiaomi-Australia eBay formely known as gshopper eBay.
I have purchased this product https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/540979 on 29th May, 2020.
I started having problems approx oct-nov of 2020, and I thought it was just to the heat in the apartment. I rarely use the vacuum due to living in a 1 bedroom apartment and FIFO.

I e-mailed them on the contact in their website early-mid Jan but they didn't reply. So I had to message 'lele' about it.
Multiple e-mails and messages to lele - requesting lele to inform gshopper's account to message back to me. It's been very difficult messaging them and it appears that even though I have answered their question they keep on repeating myself (if you want to know more let me know I will forward you all our messages).

On 11th of March - they have confirmed the fault and that they will send out a battery to me and they "will bear the freight, please rest assured"

I message them again late march, mid april and no response until I messaged 'lele' again and eBay responded after a while.

After providing the serial number & video, despite them confirming that they will send out the battery - they have asked me again of the same thing, video.. serial number etc.

I told them to provide me a refund because they are not doing anything and it's been ages. It also appears that they are avoiding me.

Until now they haven't responded yet. AGAIN.

      This is the video https://www.dropbox.com/s/wv426rmkzezcs8r/20210125_121219.mp…

Also, I have confirmed with Xiaomi Australia that gshopper is not an authorised re-seller.

TL;DR - Product bought May 2020, issues started Oct-Nov 2020. Contacted 'lele' fr OzB, eBay & gShopper website multiple times to get a reply since January. Resolution fr eBay gShopper - said that they will send me a battery on March. Nil communication again until I raised the concern with lele on May. Until now nil response again

      • Just get in touch with eBay directly???

        • As I said, I already did plenty of times.
They don't respond unless I escalate the issue to.lele, and then eBay would respond.

There was continuous conversation around late feb, march until early march they said they will send the battery at nil cost to me.

I sent them a message late march - no reply. April - no reply. Then until I messaged lele on early may then eBay replied.

  • Just started looking into air purifier as my son has been tested and is alergic to dustmites. His room is small so I think the Pro is overkill. Can you do a good deal on the 2H? Is there any reason why I should opt for the Pro model in my situation?

ive had this model for about 8 months now. just have it in my master bedroom. I am allergic to dust mites too but honestly i can't really tell any difference from before and after we got this, still wake up and have bad days.

      • +7

Best to remove the carpet and get laminate flooring or tiles.

My allergist strongly expressed the importance of changing the sheet every week

Let me just chuck my 2c in here, because I think many people have the same idea about air filters that I had (which turns out to be wrong)

They aren't for large scale dust suppression. The do perform that function a little, but there is so much stuff that produces dust that there's just no way a small household filter can churn through enough air to filter it out. Most dust is made up from clothing particles (not skin as commonly gets repeated). Your kmart clothes are made from cheap polyester, its constantly breaking apart, and every time you move it sends a cloud of microparticles into the air. These aren't exactly healthy, but they are also rather large particles so they settle to the ground after a few minutes, an hour max.

But there are some particles that don't settle. These are light enough to stick around in the air for hours, days even, and because they are so light you breath them in and they go straight through your lungs into your blood stream. Basically like injecting whatever craps in the air straight into your veins.

That is what these appliances are good at dealing with. Clearing the air of the very very fine particles, so that you're not sleeping in a sea of poisonous gas particles.

If your aim was to reduce dust (and by extension dust mites) you'd want something with a crappier filter that wouldn't clog so easily, that churned through a lot more air. But it would be like living in a wind tunnel.

For reference, I have the Xiaomi 2h from the previous kogan deal. Been using it for a month now on auto. It sits on 001 for air quality, but my room still gets very dusty. I imagine it would do a better job if I changed it to speed 3, as auto keeps it on the lowest setting almost always, but if I do that it sounds like it's about to take off.

        • Auto is useless. Might as well have it "off" until it's necessary, then run it on medium or high speeds.

One of the problems is also the fact that most people places the air purifier in the corner of room or open living room. It is not going to be able to filter out all the air in that entire space. Putting these things in the middle of the room/open area doesn’t make much sense either (cabling, tripping hazard, etc). Which makes me wonder why don’t centralised AC companies doesn’t integrate this as part of the filtration system.

        • Wait, so it's very dusty but sits on 001ppm?Wouldn't that suggest the sensor is garbage?

I have one of these (3H model, might have an additional 2.5 sensor?) as well and yeah it almost always sits at 001, but I'm oblivious enough that it could be dusty in my room and I'd just sit there and sneeze without realising it's the air - especially if the purifier is sitting on 001.

    • When I have smoke from hazard reduction burns I want the air filtered ASAP, no such thing as overkill. But for dust mites, I don't know.

Dust mites (I have this same allergy) mainly comes from objects that dust mites can live in for extended periods of time and breed. This is your bed, pillow and hard surfaces that collect dust.

Purifying the air will make minimal difference. The best investment you can make is a quality Dyson to vacuum carpets, the bed and wet dust surfaces often. That and washing bedsheets. That makes the most difference.

      • Thanks all, have carpet in bedroom unfortunately.

Have a standard miele c3 vacuum but bought the hepa filter so hopefully that will make a difference. Going to also buy allergend bedding.

Carpet cleaning every ~6-8 months, dust weekly, clean sheets weekly (hot wash), new pillows every ~3 years, new mattress every ~10 years (or sooner), steam clean curtains and furniture every now and again.

        • Carpets fine, just vacuum regularly. I recently bought a Robovac and it’s great. A twice weekly clean took away a lot of symptoms.

        • I second Mr JSONBourne's sentiment on a quality vacuum would have more effect. We upgraded this month from our old bagged Miele to a Tineco S12 Platinum (we tested it against the Dyson V11 in store, and difference in what it picked up was telling enough, but there was a whole host of other reasons for us choosing it over the Dyson). I have to say, I wish I had bought one years ago, the amount of stuff it pulled out of our 'already clean' carpets that had been vacuumed the day before with the Miele was crazy. Just make sure your son isn't the one emptying the vacuum, I was sneezing up a storm for days, fellow 'dust-mite allergic here.

          • @HiredGoon: Have you tried wearing a mask when emptying vacuum?

            • +2

@nfr: No mate, it was my first time, so I really wanted that full experience.

At this point if someone told me Xiaomi makes the sun moon and other planets I'd believe them. I'd still hate Xiaomi tho

    • +1

But why? They're a pretty popular brand, with some quite decent products

      • +3

The CCP factor. Which is reasonable given the current climate.

Non-Wifi Xiaomi is the best xiaomi.

    • Can you disable wifi on this or do you need it to function?

  • Does this share filter with 2, 2 & 3H>?
    thanks

  • I am using this in bedroom. Helps me with grass pollen allergy.

The Pro version doesn't come with a HEPA filter by default. So you need to purchase this as the one

    https://www.mi-store.com.au/xiaomi-mi-air-purifier-hepa-filt…

  • Purchased, thanks rep.

  • +1

Thanks, bought one for the upcoming hayfever season in spring.

  • The filters are interchangeable in all models.

  • Thanks OP, been waiting for a deal on this model. I just find it odd that their high end model does not have the HEPA filter included.

  • Just got mine delivered today. Got a seperate AU plug adaptor (which I dont like using) in the box so I ended up using an old figure 8 cable.

Interesting thing was the tape they used on the box was the Amazon branded one.

    • Yeah me too! I got excited when I saw the Amazon tape as I didn’t recall ordering anything and thought I’d received a gift.

I was slightly annoyed at the way the international adapter was just jammed in a rudimentary hole cut into the polystyrene packaging.

I was under the impression there was no filter included, so ordered 2 HEPA filters separately, is the included filter a standard filter and not HEPA?

      • For pro, I believe it's a standard filter.

    • It's because the store is also selling on Amazon. Here it is in Amazon with the same price: https://www.amazon.com.au/Xiaomi-Mi-Air-Purifier-Pro/dp/B07H…

  • These guys are a scam. My order was sitting on "pending shipping" for a week and a half with no sign of the order. Finally emailed to ask what was going on and they gave me a tracking number to a suburb over. Have me contacting Australia Post who investigate and tell me that it was returned to sender because they didn't add the street number to the address. (Returned before I even emailed them!). Australia Post says nothing they can do and to get the seller to contact them. "GShopper" basically refuses to deal with Australia Post and is adamant it was "delivered". Avoid these guys.
