I'm torn between Cholula and Sriracha. And Tabasco. I love them all in different ways. I have a polygamous chilli sauce relationship.

    • +1

Completely different. I wouldn't put Sriracha on a taco, nor would I put Cholula on fried rice. Have you tried Valentina? The best Mexican hot sauce IMO.

      • Haven't thanks for the tip. Gotta add Peri Peri and fresh ones from the yard to the list as well. I'm keen to try the byron bay sauce company ones soon as well. So many decisions to make.

      • +1

        I haven't tried Valentina but its $5 a bottle here https://aztecmexicanproductsandliquor.com.au/product/valenti…
        Worth a try

      • Thanks for the tip about Valentina. Ordered a bottle for $3.95 from Amazon to try

You will love Secret Aardvark then. It goes on literally everything. Takes couple days to get used to the habanero kick then it's just flavourtown from there on… Love that trio but long since replaced by this.

Bunsters is raved about a lot in Australia but I found it very underwhelming. Great with cheese but not meats.

      • Ok Aardvark it is .

  • +2

Looks like it was an error? Back to 5.80 for me as well.

    Back to original price

  • Managed to grab a couple before, thanks OP.

  • You always can get them cheap at Asian shops anyway

    • +4

      Those are usually fake.

      • Fake sauce? Bloody hell.

      • Even Huy Fong ones?

My local Vietnamese seller has them for $4.50, at one stage, you could get them for $3.99 for the large bottles. Not sure how to tell a fake Huy Fong from the original.

        • +1

Don't know where that info comes from. This sauce has been sold at Asian shops years before Woolies etc even know about it.

  • Back to original price

  • +3

A good deal price I think. Shame it's reverted to original. The empty bottles also make perfect dispensers for cooking when refilled with oil, soy sauce, water :)

i ordered some Sriracha from Amazon before but tasted different - less flavour and just chilliness. Cant remember which brand it was but back then i thought there was only one Sriracha

  • Good sauce, but it takes me more than a year to finish one bottle, so makes no sense to buy two.

    • +1

Haha a year? Try a week.

      • ~100g sugar per bottle. Forget bargains on sauce, you'll need bargains on health services!

  • Have amazon recently changed orders like this to minimum amount of 2.

  • Aldi have one for $3.50 for those who missed out.

Personally I think a sauce with ~100g of sugar in a 480g bottle, shouldn't be called a sauce. It's liquid sugar with some weak spice and garlic flavorings. There's nearly 100 grams of sugar per bottle.

Just mash some chillies yourself and add some garlic. It won't be as cheap, but it will taste a lot better and not turn you into a diabetic in old age.

    • +1

Not sure from where you got this info, looking at the bottle in from of me - only 9g of sugar per 100g of sauce.

      • +2

Plus even if it is, not sure how this would be make or break in becoming diabetic or not. A bottle of this sauce lasts me at least quite a long time. Plenty of people regularly blow through 50-60 g of sugar in coke, flavoured milks, juices etc. a day without any hesitation. I think I'll let myself get away with the maybe 1 bottle of sriracha a year I use…

  • Mix Siracha with Mayo and you get best chilli Mayo one could ask for. Thats how hunky dory makes their's
