Hi, i m going to hong kong / thailand in a few days time, i just wonder where can I get cheap telstra credit, and which plan which I change to? any ozbargainer 's got a good deal?
I m looking online, there are a few website selling Me2U credit directly, but looks dodgy. will it be more reliable buying them from ebay? they are around 35% off on ebay while directly are around 50%.
Are you talking about:
A) a Telstra plan to use in Asia while you are away?
B) some credit to keep your current Aussie Telstra Sim "alive" while you don't use it (because you will be overseas)?
If it's A) then you are wasting money, because roaming charges are outrageous. So is diverting your existing number to an overseas one.
Best to buy a sim over there, and then divert your existing sim to messagebank with a message saying "I am overseas, in an emergency call me international on +AB-XXX-YYY-ZZZ or wait until [date] till I get home"

Yes I would recommend using VOIP, use a free VOIP service and software on your smartphone and leave information on your phones message bank that if anyone wants to contact you, do so either by email or call using your VOIP address. Just use the free WIFI at hotels.

when i was in HKG for 10 days, i just bought the "3" prepaid network. costs me HKG$198 and comes with a decent data plan too.
